Barnabás Varga with his second to tie up Portugal, only to have Hungary fall behind again, just 2 minutes later. Life is hard.

    Did he? Nice one.

Must be the Liverpool link, Ole was a huge Liverpool fan as a kid, ran a Norwegian branch of the supporters club. ;)

Bolivia beat Brazil to snatch away the intercontinental play off spot from Venezuela in the final game!

Dick Advocaat’s Curacao get 3 points on the board, but Steve McClaren’s Reggae Boyz look in good nick for top spot in that group with another win against Trinidad

Costa Rica surprisingly drew 3-3 with Haiti meaning they’ve only got 2 points so far, could be a surprise there as Honduras haven’t looked good but top the group currently

Wouldn’t fancy anyone going there and getting a result with the atmosphere literally leaving players short on breath!

Unfortunately for Bolivia, the inter-continental play-offs are at neutral venues. It's reported to be played in Mexico in Guadalajara (1500m elevation) and Monterrey (500m elevation).

Some way of La Paz's approximate 3500m altitude.

Brazil don't deserve to be seeded at the World Cup as they are shit. No doubt though FIFA will have them in pot 1.

Dick Advocaat is onto something at Curacao.

Have a 40 year managerial career with varying levels of success, reach 77 and go and live on a Caribbean island within the Kingdom of Netherlands who don’t really have any expectations, but actually put up a good effort at qualification with the tournament expanding.

Can’t be a bad semi retirement

Was a very odd score, almost suspicious. Moldova are a minnow but they're usually in that secondary minnow level with the likes of Armenia and Lithuania that can usually make things competitive and occasionally beat some decent teams if they get a good generation of players. 11-1 is the kind of score you only usually get with the absolute minnows like San Marino and Liechtenstein. Norway have a strong team right now and have a world class striker but they're not that good.

It's an odd score however I'd caution you on your implication it was suspicious - you do get one every now and again even at the main stages of the world cup never mind the qualifiers, by all accounts the Moldovan's completely lost their head after the 2nd goal went in rather than Norway being 'that good' as you put it.

Well they are known as the Repubteam of Ireland......

so Venezuela, to the best of my recollection, will remain the only CONMEBOL team never to reach a World Cup

With another international break over and done with here's where we stand with regards to the overall picture of international qualifying. CONMEBOL become the second confederation to complete their qualifying competition (after OFC) meanwhile some UEFA teams only began their campaign in this window. 18 teams have qualified so far.
