You don't make me angry. I know you want to feel like someone else is emotional because they won't listen to you. You approached me, I just wanted to let you know not to bother.
his chin has been rock solid up to that point! I know one of his old sparring partners who said the same. Moving up and down weight hasn’t helped him in this fight. He should’ve heeded his old man’s warning and not half killed himself making weight for the benn fight Certainly not a KO. i thought smith would win a razor close decision because eubank is not a great boxer, but he is a fighter. He struggles with good fighters with excellent fundamentals; bjs and especially groves.
Yeah that crippled Eubank and tbf he looked like it had taken its toll at his and Benns weigh in, imo Benn actually done for him without getting in the ring to do so.
his old man told him not to take the fight for a reason. I don’t think beefy would’ve knocked him out a couple of fights ago, but I do think he’d have still beat him. He’s a much better technical boxer and under rated. Canelo is the only guy to outclass slhim and smiths fought at the world level for many years now It’s ironic that Roy jones is training jr and he shortened his own career at the top level by going up and down weights. It ruined his durability
It does take something from a boxer moving up or down in weight ,I can only really recall Duran's transition moving through four different weight classes being successful ,but that guy was just an enigma and complete freak, imo arguably one of the greatest fighters that ever stepped in a ring, still to see any fighter with those levels of endurance. Eubank just looked undernourished at the Benn weigh in and should have been told there and then that stepping in with Benn was detrimental to his own boxing career.
it shortens a lot of fighters careers doing that. Duran is an exception as is Tyson fury. I don’t think many thought he’d come back from being 30st to rule the division, myself included I was initially more concerned for benn when they were due to fight. He’s a good couple of weight classes smaller and hasn’t fought any world level fighters close to their prime.
I dont know mate ,I dont think it would have made a difference given Eubank's condition ,sometimes these rapid result dietary plans do more harm than good and the body cant handle the change and to me he looked ill conditioned to carry the fight.
That's it, my new years diet ended, I'm not risking the missus knocking me out! You are probably right mate, just didn't look like "the punch of a lifetime" that Eubank has been citing post fight. He'd be better just accepting he was second best on night, either enforce the rematch clause or move on.
tbf if anyone gets caught with a clean uppercut, it can be lights out, no matter how durable they are. Placement and timing are bigger factors than power and eubank rolled right in to a punch he didn’t see It’s more going up and down divisions rather than steadily moving up in weight as you progress your career
This Saturday (28th Jan) Artur Beterbiev vs Anthony Yarde BT Sport 1 HD and BT Sport 4K UHD channel for the lucky people. The Itauma brothers will be on the undercard (Moses will be fighting early, so his fight won't be broadcasted)
Boxing fans are the worst. We had Tyson furys ‘fist in the wrist’ claim by wilder fans after their second fight, and now claims that beefys got elbows for fists as he clearly hit him with a left uppercut. Some fans just can’t bear their favourite fighters getting knocked out, so we have to deal with ludicrous claims to make them feel better
Anyone think yardes got any shot at beating beterbiev? I think his only shot is a 2-3 round fire fight, and even that still favours the champ. Anything past that and he’s gonna take a prolonged beating.
Watched fight earlier. Was a very sudden knockdown. Guessing Eubank's resistance was hampered by the weight cutting for Benn. Probably best for him to retire, though get the feeling he will try and do Benn fight again.
