And no further goals until the 93rd minute. US Boy Reyna for the 2nd time in a row with the deciding goal after coming late into the match as substitute. He's done if last weekend in the 80th minute (after coming in the 70th) for the 4-3 against Augsburg and now in stoppage time in Mainz. Seems he want to show US Coach Berhalter that he should've had more playing time at the World Cup (seems his parents started some "discussion" about it in the US) Why are you laughing? Augsburg isn't as bad as their standings may look. Last weekend they scored 3 at the Westfalenstadion Signal Iduna Arena. Leverkusen and Wolfsburg marching like Leipzig. If the Saxons hadn't had a bad start in the season.... And Werder with the 4th loss in a row...wouldn't that be nice if Schalke and Werder go down and HSV up? But Werder still profit from their good start in the season.
More bad news for Manuel Neuer then.. Lost his best mate and coach. Bayern Munich sack goalkeeping coach and Manuel Neuer's close friend
Halfway point in the season then, what does everybody think? Bayern are indeed top but only 3 points clear of Union (can't believe they're still 2nd, still don't rate the players on a CL level but the workrate must be good) followed by Leipzig & Frankfurt (Kolo Muani is obviously carrying the whole squad). The two conglomerate clubs Wolfsburg & Leverkusen are in awesome form. 6 & 5 wins in a row respectively so I doubt both will stay out of the European spots very long (especially VfL who are only 2 points from 4th). For Bayer, a couple more wins are needed to get close but Xabi has transformed the dressing room which was the original plan I reckon. Fussballgott Florian Wirtz is also back playing and that can only be good. Quite surprised that Bayer are only 3 points above Bremen only. Werder look like a relegation side but thanks to a good start they are ranked 11th. I can see a lot more quality in sides ranked below (Mainz, Hoffenheim) so maybe they'll get sucked in. Schalke & Hertha look a solid bet for the Zwei though (Bsc is a yoyo club and Schalke is trying very hard to become one) so Bremen are good (for now). I'm gonna get off the fence and say that Bayern will win the title. There. I've said it!
Bayern Dortmund Leipzig Freiburg Union Wolfsburg Leverkusen ... Bochum Hertha Schalke IMO 4th to 7th can be in any order but I thought it would be funny to see Leverkusen 7th
Next game against Frankfurt Injured: Hernandez, Mane, Mazraoui, Neuer, Sarr Sommer Pavard Upamecano de Ligt Davies Kimmich Goretzka Coman Muller Sane Choupo-Moting Ulreich, Stanisic, Blind, Gravenberch, Sabitzer, Musiala, Wanner, Gnabry, Tel,
This week's most important matches: Bayern vs Frankfurt Hamburg vs Braunschweig (Did I get the spelling right?) This week's best matches: Bayern vs Frankfurt Karlsruher vs Paderborn This week's closest matches: Leverkusen vs Dortmund Karlsruher vs Paderborn
In German? Yes In English, it's Brunswick. I lived a few years in Braunschweig during my student years so I still have a soft spot for the Eintracht (Nickname: Die Löwen (Lions) because Braunschweig is the City of Heinrich der Löwe from the Welfen Dynasty (Henry the Lion), in the 12th century Duke of Saxony and Bavaria and a cousin of Friedrich Barbarossa, Friedrich I, Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire of German Nation. Why am I telling this? I don't know, maybe because German History is also a hobby for me I was often in their stadium at the Hamburger Straße (fitting name for me ) during weekends when HSV hadn't a home match and I didn't drive back for it to Hamburg (direct line approx 150km, via Autobahn 200km) btw: I wouldn't say that it's (beside Bayern vs Frankfurt) the weekend's "most important" match, though (although for me it is )
OK, but it's #2 vs #14. I would say that #5 Hannover 96 vs #4 1.FC Kaiserslautern is the top match, though. Anyway, in other HSV News: Sonny Kittel stays at HSV (again!). Just like last summer when he was already in USA for a medical at an MLS club. This time it was a club in Saudi-Arabia who wanted him, already accepted the transfer fee and yet he stays again at HSV. I still like Sonny, on good days he's one of the best midfielder in the league (last season 9 goals and 17 assists, this time 0 goals and 5 assists so far) but this has to stop. Either go or stay but not every few months another disturbance ******************** DFB just announced the first 2 test matches for 2023: It's very important that every player takes these test matches seriously, because we are already qualified for the Euro 2024 (June 14th - July 14th 2024), so we'll only have friendlies until then.
Might have something to do with the fact that Hamburg is in the promotion race (without being confirmed) and Braunschweig is in the relegation race (again, without being confirmed) If Braunschweig win that would be massive P.S. Didn't realise Kaiserslautern was this high
Hannover is on the German grounds to-do list (and it's not hosting any Euro games in 18 months unlike WC2006) and would like to the small village next to it too (ground does look as good as Nürnberg's on the box though, no offence D). Leipzig/Stuttgart this evening! Looking forward to Leverkusen/Dortmund on sunday!
I assume the "small village" is Braunschweig? OK, when you live in Paris then a city with approx. 250.000 is maybe a small village. And yes, the Eintracht Stadium is not a beauty, the same for Nürnbergs Frankenstadion/Max Morlock Stadion, because they're no football-only stadiums but nowadays it's at least fully roofed. I remember the stormy and rainy days in the autumn and snowy in winter in the mid to late 80s when we stood often in the then unroofed area und "haben uns den Arsch abgefroren" (sorry, no transl.) results. Bundesliga: RB Leipzig vs VfB Stuttgart 2-1 Leipzig up to 2nd for a day. Stuttgart improved under new (old) coach Bruno Labbadia, though. 2.Bundesliga: Fortuna Düsseldorf vs 1.FC Magdeburg 3-2 Karlsruher SC vs SC Paderborn 0-1 3.Liga: SV Elversberg vs Rot-Weiß Essen 3-0 The Saarländer still winning. Phenomenal.
Bad result Don't get Stanisic starting over our best defender (Pavard) Next up is Mainz in the Pokal. Some rotation pls 1 more injury and we'll have to use our B team players/U-21s Injured: Neuer, Hernandez, Mazraoui, Sarr, Goretzka, Mane Ulreich Cancelo Upamecano de Ligt Davies Kimmich Gravenberch Gnabry Musiala Sane Tel Sommer, Stanisic, Blind, Pavard, Wanner, Ibrahimovic, Coman, Muller, Choupo-Moting
No, good result @Panja About time you change your 8-0 predictions for Bayern wins into 1-1 3-times in a row a 1-1. I'll take it, doesn't make much difference in the end. They're still winning it, even if Serge Gnabry travels to every fashion week in the World on his "regeneration day" Hertha BSC loses another Berlin Derby, as usual. And a surprise afterwards, they're not sacking the coach (who is pretty helpless) but the "high praised" Sporting Director Fredi Bobic. Too bad, Fredi, that Rudi Völler is now Sporting Director at the DFB. Let's see how long Andre Breitenreiter is still coach at Hoffenheim. Another loss, 1-4 at home against Gladbach. Werder relies on Niclas Füllkrug in the 2-1 win against Wolfsburg, ending their run with 5 (or was it 6) wins in a row. Now 13 goals for him in 17 matches. In the 2.Bundesliga all the top6 teams have won their matches (HSV plays in about 3 1/2 hours at home against Braunschweig). Kaiserslautern with a 3-1 away win against fellow promotion candidate Hannover 96 in 3.Liga Elversberg now actually 10pts ahead but #2 Wiesbaden plays today at relegation bound Dortmund II. Saarbrücken and Ingolstadt lost, so a big chance for 1860 on Monday against Dresden at home to jump at #3 spot (or if they don't score enough, 3 goals GD, at least be on level with #3 Saarbrücken)
We had these situations that Bayern "struggles" a bit for a few matches (if you can call 3 consecutive draws "struggle", other clubs would be glad ) and the "others" a bit in reach in some of the past seasons, too. If we have this actual constellation not only at matchday 18 but on matchday 30 then I'll believe a title race but not now, yet. Bayern will soon be on track again in the Bundesliga, unfortunately (for the Bundesliga). I have no problems with them winning the Champions League, though Anyway, not (yet) my problem....next year HSV vs Eintracht Braunschweig 4-2 Nearly 57.000 again, 7000 BTSV fans made the trip to the Volkspark. Great Atmosphere again, Fast 2-0 lead after 15 minutes and brilliant 20-25 minutes from HSV. But as always, we get a goal and suddenly struggling a bit. And we had several other big chances and yet nearly got the 3-3. HSV is no club for fans with heart problems like me Overall, "Ende gut, alles gut" edit: if you're interested in the goals: edit: Is the yt clip visible for others outside Germany? I can see it but sometimes they block it for international viewers?
9th-placed Hansa Rostock are only 4 points clear form the bottom of the table! Wahnsinn! Don't think I've ever seen anything like this. So, how are HSV going to balls it up this time? In what state of mind are you for that one, D?
