Some horrible finishing in this game

Don't think this will be disallowed.

Edit* never mind. I thought it came off Burn initially but comes off Armstrong so I think that's right.

Didn’t think it would count. Goal doesn’t happen if he doesn’t punch/slap it off the Newcastle player :shrug

Seems it has been - they will say the officials have been consistent I guess in that regard .

Isn't the rule it can only be overturned if the goalscorer handles it?

Technically it was an OG so pretty sure they've got that one wrong, again.

The hand does help to get the ball to his knee though. Might have been able to put it in anyway but it helped

This sport has been absolutely ruined by VAR. I really don’t enjoy watching football matches much anymore, if I didn’t have a vested interest I doubt I’d watch any.

That decision is just…eh? Might be technically correct but absolutely nothing about it feels right to me and it’s deflating as a football fan.

As per the rules, that goal should’ve stood. Regardless of what anyone thinks anyway, var has ruined the beautiful game.

I think the ball came off Armstrongs knee though

Caleta-Sar really should've decked Murphy there.

Oh ok - thought they gave the goal to Armstrong.

Seems harsh when it’s not deliberate in anyway .

Shame but we imploded after the VAR goal went against us.

Away fans in the home end once again, looked like he got an absolute beating too.

I'm really fed up of seeing Adams miss chance after chance and our CBs make mistake after mistake.

Looks like the ball came off Armstrong's thigh and not the Newcastle players so In that case VAR got it right.

Really looking forward to tonight. Hopefully we can give Utd a good game, make things difficult for them and keep ourselves in the tie going into the second leg.

As a fan as someone in their first year of experiencing it, I'm finding it really tiresome. I'm getting conditioned to not celebrate when we score because the goals are reviewed all the bloody time

Have to be honest I thought the better team won last night. I’m not going to get into the ins and outs of the disallowed goals as if we hadn’t had VAR they’d have both been given and we’d still have lost by a goal.

I thought pope was immense for newcastle and I thought alacaraz was really good for us.

But as I said in the build up, we can’t score goals, which means we’re not winning games.

Yesterday was a perfect example of that, we looked toothless up front and no amount of fixed midfield is going to sort that.

Was gonna have a few bob on Lingard scoring against his old team but he's only on the bench .

Man U have strong line up , probably best chance of a trophy this season albeit reckon this will be a tight game , 1-1 .
