Left winger from Japan, Kyogo Furuhashi signed for a reported £4.6m.

Top scorer in Japan and has 3 in 6 appearances for the national team. Know nothing about him but Inniesta plays with him and has been raving about him.

    Things starting to progress now.

Again, always good to see signings in the door but now we need to hope they perform.

Lots of rumours circling about players with the biggest one being Fraser Forster again.

I've every confidence Ange will build a successful team but Midtyland on Tuesday is far too early for us. I'm expecting very little with the way our squad is right now and it would be a major result to come through this one.

With players going, injuries and waiting on players coming in we're working with a youth squad supplemented by a few first team players.

So if we get past Midjtylland (doubtful) we play PSV or Galatasaray.

This would be ridiculously tough in normal circumstances, but as things stand right now for us it looks an almost impossible task.

Like many I don’t see us getting past Midjtylland anyway, but either of those two would probably put us to the sword.

I just hope that Ange is spared any wrath that may come our way if results are negative in this period as he has two hands tied behind his back.

Congrats to Callum McGregor on being given the captaincy.

He had his worst season last time around, but overall he is a class act as a player and the manner in which he conducts himself.

It was an obvious choice in the circumstances.

Probably, but still nice to see him get it regardless.

Not happy with Griffiths being allowed to stay on. Regardless of the technicalities of the outcome, he is a stain on the club which is far more important than any positives that he may bring as an individual footballer.

On a more positive note, I’m enjoying the straight up no nonsense honesty from Ange in regards to those who are tasked with getting deals for players over the line.

If he fails to do his job properly the fans will soon let him know about it, but he is also letting others know when they aren’t doing theirs and for me that’s a positive.

Ajer has just passed his Brentford medical.

    £13.5m plus add ons.

I liked Ajer but also easily replaceable, a good deal for us.

Barkas also doing himself no favours in terms of convincing the support.

Very good performance in patches last night. We more than did enough to win the game and a Barkas howler has cost us.

Thought Welsh strolled it at the back and it looks like last season's introduction has done him the world of good, at 21 he took control of that shambolic backline.

Abada looks like he is going to be fun to watch this season, very quick and always looking to get into the box.

Once again though we just can't finish teams off and when it has mattered just like last season Eddy couldn't produce the goods.

The football we play is very pleasing on the eye but until we sort the GK, CB and two full back positions we will see plenty of near misses like last night and that won't be enough to get the title back.

The basis of a good side is there, Ange just needs backed now to get who he needs.

It was clear to see last night that if we are going to implement that style of play, we need the individual quality to be far better than what it is currently. I think we still need upwards of five first teamers brought in. If we don’t do this, we may be easy on the eye but ultimately won’t be successful.

We are still in the tie as I wasn’t impressed by them at all, but due to Bitton’s sheer stupidity, we go into the second game possibly having to rely on two boys at the back who show promise when in reality they should be nowhere near the first team.

I can understand the thinking behind giving Barkas a second chance, but he just isn’t up to being our first choice keeper. We need a far safer pair of hands to instill confidence in the back line.

So by my reckoning we need a keeper, two full backs, at least one more CB, a better quality holding midfielder and at least one more striker.
