Sounds like Premiership Rugby is acting as well as the Premier League in football.... BBC unhappy as Premiership Rugby drops 'offer' to show Twickenham final
Wow, what a European final we have just witnessed. Exeter have had to dig so deep for that win and the defence they put in around the 72nd minute when Racing went through 19 phases was truly immense. Bit of a weird ending but the ref asked twice for the clock to be restarted when Simmonds was lining that kick up and it didn't restart either time so definitely the right call to say the 80 was up when the ball cleared the posts. We have an English European Champion who have done it the right way
Yeah, definitely the right call. He's got a minute to play with, so if everything was working, he was always going to take the kick after 80.
Will be a tough Premiership final next week, especially considering the efforts put in today. Strange thing is, Exeter don't know who they are playing yet. Wasps have had a coronavirus outbreak and if they can't fulfil the fixture they will be replaced by Bristol (who won the European Challenge Cup last night)
Issue about this has cropped up again with 7 Aussie Rugby league refusing to wear a pride decorated shirt in their next game. Historic pride jersey sparks player boycott in Australia
Not surprised this hasn't gone down well with Eddie Jones' paymasters and how will players react in his squad to being criticised like this? But is he right - rugby is very elitist and generally picks from a certain pool of society although maybe that is changing? Jones rebuked by RFU about private schools comment
well Ellis Genge for one will agree he has spoken of his early years in rugby being made to feel unwelcome because he was from a council estate, because he didn't talk in the right way and because his skin was the wrong colour
With Worcester going into administration & now Wasps in real trouble with Coventry City being their tenants ( bizarrely ) what'll happen to the Sky Blues if it all goes tits up ? Another ground share ? Reckon we'll see lots of this across all sports over next few years , unfortunately , hope I'm wrong .
Cov have a contract and are paying Wasps to use the ground so they'll be fine, it may even help their chances of being bought, you could get the club and also buy the ground for cheap
There was an item on the ITV news about this last night, and they showed a clip from Wasps' last game at the Coventry stadium, and the ground looked at least 80% empty. No surprise then that these clubs are going bust . . . though why Wasps moved from London to the Midlands in 2014 will always mystify me.
Quite - there was already a rugby club in Coventry and two massive ones close by in Northampton and Leicester. Goodness knows how many fans they lost from the London area as you say (and Wycombe) Least when Saracens left us they moved basically to their roots in North London - and done pretty well since. Have they just paid players too much/spent too much on the squad? Worcester's owners basically blamed their issues on the players for not winning enough and the fans for not going enough! No love loss there clearly.
Wasps always had to give tickets away to get a decent crowd, no one up here wanted them, then they “stole” the stadium and kicked out its “rightful” owners twice, wonder why they never caught on. Tigers get the biggest crowds in the league and they still struggle financially, the game might be pro but it’s run by amateurs, they TV deal is tiny for what it should be
Wasps shit on us when we let them play at Adams Park, our ex owner Steve Hayes also owned Wasps and wanted a new stadium built in Booker with Wasps owning it and we would have to pay rent Thank god the council turned him down. My only worry is what will happen to Coventry.
I'll never celebrate people losing their jobs or the original Wasps fans from losing their club. Though they already lost it once they moved to Cov. The franchise loving, free ticket, flag waving, "Once a wasp" that are crying about it, can f**k off. I'm glad they're gone. We will be fine short term, our lease can't be voided. I hope we get new owners but if not SISU better stand up and be counted after all the crap they've put us through the last few years. Sooner the Wasps signs get pulled down the better. Rumours are is they're 70-100million in debt.
You'd like you think you guys wouldn't be affected by the failings and troubles of a team in a totally different sport. I doubt Wasps would feel sorry for you if you'd suffered like they have.
Heartbreak for the Red Roses . Just edged out by New Zealand in the World Cup final despite a fantastic effort having to play a women down for an hour or so. Were still in front going into the last 10 minutes but the hosts got a late decisive try.
