It's been announced today that former Charlton striker David Whyte has died at the age of 43.

I know a lot of you won't even know who he was but he was a great goalscorer for us in the mid nineties and this was the period I started going to the Valley regularly so I have great memories of him.

He also played for Palace and had brief spells at Ipswich, Bristol Rovers and Southend.

    Very sad news.

Looked like he was going to be a cracking player for us at one stage but moved him on as he wanted to play more. Always remember the goal he scored at West Brom when we won the title in 93/4, one of our goals of the season.

    RIP

Too young to have seen him play but it is always a shame when someone dies so young.

This. It's a shame regardless but I never saw a cause.
