First round qualifying today. There's a lot of teams participating I've never even heard of

Aberdeen and Motherwell will be hoping to boost the Scottish coefficients after a poor showing last night. The Glasgow clubs have had to do it all themselves in recent times so it'd be good to see the other Scots give Europe a proper go.

Draw for the next qualifying round is on Monday which sees Spurs enter the competition.

Great night for the Welsh teams so far

TNS leading in extra time against Zilina and Bala Town 1-0 up against Valletta with just over 5 minutes to go

Bala through and I'm sure TNS will follow.

Good night for the Irish so far too. Although that can quickly change.

Coleraine just beat UCL group stage regulars Maribor on pens

    Unbelievable result

That's a superb result for Coleraine against a side with quite a bit of European experience.

    Edit*
That Coleraine result is superb for Motherwell too. Motherwell are the lowest ranked seeded side in the draw on Monday.

Gives them a better chance of progressing.

I’d hardly call them group stage regulars :laugh:

Massive result for Coleraine though, really great moment for them. That’s shamrock, Bala, TNS and Coleraine all through to the second round.

Is it just me who finds it so satisfying seeing the welsh and Irish teams go through but hilarious when the Scottish teams go crashing out ?

Yeah a slight exaggeration, 3/4 times in the last 10 years, still a huge upset though

No I don't mind seeing the Scottish clubs do well, except Rangers & Celtic. Always a bit of a highlight of the football calendar seeing Celtic crash out to no marks every season.

Some good draws there. I can see most teams winning other than Shamrock, Bala, Aberdeen and then question marks over Connah’s Quay

I think you are probably the only person to think that. Unfortunately I can only see a hammering for the Bannsiders. There's not really any good teams in NI atm.

Well they got past Maribor and Motherwell are sat bottom of the SPL with 0 wins so I don’t think it’s out of the question

Tricky draw for Aberdeen. They'll play Sporting Lisbon in the 3rd round if they go through.

Draw has been kinder to the rest if they can get past their 2nd round opponents.

TNS crashed out on penalties last night. Took a late lead in extra time and then conceded in something like the 32nd minute of extra time. Blew the shootout too when ahead after 4 penalties each.

Anyway, Spurs and a few others tonight. Nothing other than a potential banana skin for us. Shouldn't go out but the one legged ties mean an off night will be punished.

Kane will play. 6 senior players left at home I believe including Dele and Alderweireld.

0-0 halftime. 45 minutes closer to an upset.

Might be reliant upon Plovdiv tiring later on.

I hope they keep one legged qualifiers tbh. It's very difficult to knock a side like Spurs out over two legs but it keeps it interesting in this format.

I don't think they should be one legged going forward. These are really important games for a lot of clubs, and home advantage is too big a factor to be decided by a draw. You've also got half the television opportunities for clubs, less guaranteed home sell outs and less European away games for teams to go to.

I'm against two legged knockouts but I think it works well for the qualifiers.

There were a few 'shocks' in the CL this week with what I'd consider the favourites going out. The qualifiers are already seeded so there's already a clear advantage for one side anyway.
