Lacazette is debateable for the high price they paid for what is essentially an average Premiership striker. They signed him two years too late to get real value for money. £45 million plus for a striker who has scored around the same as Chris Wood every season...

The other two I agree, but my point was more to do that Arsenal made a mistake with giving them big wages on long contracts when they were past their best.

I should have extended it to, Arsenal have the worse decision making when it comes to player recruitment and retainment in getting value for money.

Very disappointing for the whole 180 minutes in all honesty. No excuses, and any ambitious club wouldn't accept this season from Arteta. But then I can't look past a club that has failed to finish top 4 since 2016 and think getting rid of the manager will solve everything.

I don't really have any faith we'll get the replacement right or the upcoming window. All a bit shit really.

Fair play Emery. This is his competition, always has been. I believe it's his 5th final, it's a great record. And Villarreal looked absolutely fired up for it. 2006 was a real driving inspiration for them and they've got their revenge.

**** knows who Arsenal get in. But if they are going to sack him and then poke around the bargain bucket then they should keep Arteta and flush the squad out.

    Perfect transition season coming up.

Arsenal have become the club that fans of other clubs having a poor season look at and think..."At least I dont support that lot" ;)

Think United will breeze past this Villarreal side but hopefully they prove me wrong. Arsenal winning it was the nightmare scenario so avoided that at least.

Pitiful from Arsenal really but given how we went out I suppose I can't say too much. They at least went out to a side from one of the big leagues unlike Spurs and Leicester. No huge shame in going out to a team from La Liga but there'll no doubt be some regret from Arsenal over 180 minutes.

Arteta going for a 4-3-3 that hasn't worked at any point in his time as a manager is the most baffling thing about tonight. He's made so many mistakes this year.

Time for everyone to throw their weight behind the 'anyone but the Mancs' finals combo.

    Half with you.

Not sure I can get behind a Chelsea - Villarreal double though.

Think the biggest worry must be Arteta thought you played well and were unlucky this time .

Least before he has noted you might have played poorly .

I honestly dont know who I want to win the CL final to be honest.

After Everton and United Chelsea are and always have been firmly my third least liked club.

City on the otherhand up until recently I didnt mind.

Nightmare final, dont want either to win, just hope theres a mass fight on the pitch and both sides get kicked out, game gets abandoned and trophy handed to the winners of 2019 or something :whistle

We played large parts of that game like we were the team with the one goal lead which was baffling. Subs again from arteta were far too late. Why bring your last sub on with 2 minutes of extra time to go? Why did we take aubameyang off? Why with all the attacking players on the pitch can we not create any chances. Absolutely shocking.

From what I can see we set up to play very low chance matches. We don’t create a lot but the opposition doesn’t create much either. That’s been the pattern for most of our matches this season. That’s fine but you need absolute killers up front and perfect defenders to pull that off.
