He's been playing some brilliant golf of late. just needs to be able to hold it together in the big ones. The Open was a big choke from him.
Thing is he is consistent. Golf is probably the toughest sport to win. Getting all those top 5s and 10s all year is incredible really
I wouldn't say a big choke. He shot minus 2 on the final day I think. Probably thought he was causing to it until he saw Smith beside him on the leaderboard. Should have shot lower anyway though
If you watched his round then you would've seen it was a choke. He was playing very reservedly and wasn't attacking as much as he didn't think he was even playing against Smith. He held back.
I really hope Rory wins that green jacket soon. I reckon when he ticks that off the major tournament pressure he seems to suffer from these days will lift a lot and we'll see a few years of ruthlessness from him.
Yeah he needs to strike while he’s hot and win in within the next year or so if he’s going to IMO. Best in the world right now, in contention for every tournament he plays. You’d have to fancy him to at least be in contention at Augusta and he needs to take advantage. I will say that my interest in LIV is incredibly limited but I am genuinely intrigued by the Team championship they’re doing in Miami this weekend. Could work out being one of the few interesting tournaments they’ll do if it works. Could end up terribly, mind you. And wouldn’t be remotely upset if it does, Greg Norman is leading contender for my ‘C*nt of the Year’
Yeah it looks alright tbf. Decent bit of banter between Koepka and Phil beforehand as well. I'm hoping that in the future IF the LIV tour kicks off and establishes itself then there can be a LIV tour vs PGA tour competition in there somewhere. LIV need to change their set up a little though as right now, their players can't earn world ranking points. Imagine the build up and coverage of those two tour going head to head.
Definitely feels like if he could get one Masters across the line, he could kick on and get double figures for majors.
I would have no particular issue with LIV if it acknowledged they’re not elegible for Ranking Points, or at least aimed a bit lower with it (i.e. try to get a more limited number of points per event or something). What annoys me about the situation is that LIV and most of their players seem affronted at the fact they can’t qualify for points.
I see McIlroy won the Dubai Desert Classic ahead of Patrick Reed. Haven't seen his final putt but I like to think he tossed a tee in Reed's general direction and walked off with a smug smile on his face.
