That was a low end Prem/high end champ side Scotland had there — not a pub side by any stretch. Still shouldn’t have been close mind.

Scotland is always a difficult game for us because their effort levels ramp up. As I said before , and I mean this as no disrespect to Scotland , but this game doesn’t mean anything to me. This is coming from a guy who has family on his partners side who are Scottish . We were poor tonight , and it’s what I’m used to seeing from England in tournaments . Lethargic and shit passing . As before , as soon as we play a half decent nation, we’re out .

the only reason we got to the semi finals of the World Cup is because the route couldn’t have been easier .

England, also, never win anything either. They win every game leading up to a tournament and then they shít themselves and get knocked out.

I have enough money on them so there is some truth to that statement.

You wont have the desire to beat them as much as you have the desire to win when you play England. You will want to win the next game, but you wont play as good as you do against England, And there is a reason why you try hard against England. As has been proven ce soir.

Absolutel pathetic performance. Fair play to Scotland they actually looked like they wanted to win it. Whereas Southgate's team selection and substitutions just proved we didn’t, he’s just playing to hopefully get through this group and then have a ready made excuse that “oh well we lost to one of the better teams”.
Really don’t understand the stick Kane is getting, if you don’t create chances for him then what do people expect. The only slight glimmer of hope I can take from our opening games is that this utterly useless fraud starts* the season as Palace’s new manager.

    * Even if that happens I can’t see him being there at the end,

On that form a Spain or Sweden will do well against us.

The lack of creative play was a worry.

Sometimes you can draw with the opposition having a blinder but we were lucky to draw.

Southgate is obviously a manager where not losing is the first thing on the agenda. Winning is 2nd. That's not actually that odd of a standpoint for tournament football, but it sure is uninspiring.
You can see why he didn't fancy Trent for so long. He doesn't seem keen on them (fullbacks) being a key part of the attack.

Exactly. He did well in Russia to play to his squad's advantage but put him against a defensive side, he's clueless.

You cant lose if you don't conceed and if we can get our attacking players firing like we know they can then maybe we can get going. 4 points out of these two opening games is about what i expected, would've loved to beat the scots but im still optimistic.

He’s a wind up man, more his level

although calling him a man seems generous.

Fair play pal, started a thread in the Scottish section, completely ignored the sub-forum for general EURO discussion and then slithered in here after a draw. Some top class shithousing
