I really don't see it. Suarez, Godin and Caceres are all 35+, Pellistri wasn't even a starter for Alaves last season.

Gimenez, Bentancur, Valverde and Nunez are going to have to all turn up for them to do anything.

As has been said, their spine looks very strong to me, one of the strongest in the tournament. Valverde has arguably been one the best players in the world this season too, so if he brings that form, they will go far imo.

    Watch them get smashed now.

There’s a definite cagey pattern to this first round of games.

Yeah there’s been the odd high tempo game like Saudi/Argentina and Belgium/Canada but most have been quite cagey.

Hopefully it kicks up a notch from tomorrow

South Korea played a very disciplined defense, which is the reason they were able to hold Uruguay's attacks

Had a bet on Nunez to score, the good thing was that I had stake money back on a bore draw nil nil.

Was a shite game. The pundits will dress it up as the greatest game ever but it was sheer boring rubbish.

C'mon Portugal and Ghana give us a few goals please as can't sit through another nil nil.

I'll probably be eating my words in a couple of hours but I'm expecting this Portugal v Ghana game to be a classic.

John Champion and Ally McCoist on comms as well.

Thankfully I've only watched 20 mins of Switzerland v Cameroon on break at work & last 15 mins of Uruguay v S.Korea & wasn't that impressed , couple of the Uruguayan players were blowing out their are after 85 mins .

Reckon Portugal will with this narrowly & Ghana will keep up the " still no African team have scored " stat .

If you're finding the Group stages boring just wait until the " we daren't lose " last 16 , now that'll be turgid .

i have had these matches on in the background during work, is it just me or have most of them been absolute shiet

teams just seem more concerned about not losing than actually winning, guess this will change as we start getting must win games

At the risk of getting egg on my face over the next few weeks, once Portugal move on from the Ronaldo era, they will win another tournament soonish.

    Their depth is incredible.

Ghana not looking great at all. Look like they're playing for a draw or hopefully knick a goal

    Was a harsh call.

Might motivate Portugal to be better.

Apparently they are using a lot of “2nd tier “ refs at first keeping the more high profile ones back .

Ghana look very poor, Spain would be 4-0 up by now. Everything is just being slowed down in our attack.

We need Leao and Ramos on for Ronaldo and Otavio

Cancelo barely being used as well with all our play coming from the left

No it wasn't , if it was the other way around Ronaldo would have been down like a sack of spuds with squeals & few rolls thrown in .

Thought Portugal would have done better , Felix looks like a lost boy atm , I'd put Fernandes further forward & maybe take him off .

Don't be stupid. He'd never be back that far.

Really soft decision IMO which is annoying as it would've opened up the game and validated my prediction of a classic :whistle
