IF your team didn't exist?

I think this might be a genuinely tough question to answer, but IF the team you support simply didn't exist and never had existed, which team do you think you would have grown up supporting?

When I was a little girl everyone in my junior school supported Liverpool or Manure. I supported Liverpool, but as I went through my teens and started going to some games at Elm park, my passion moved to Reading, so if they didn't exist, I guess it would still be Liverpool. If neither existed, I hate the thought, but it might well have been Manure :off:

Perhaps you support a different team to others in your family, so could see yourself supporting their team? Perhaps you have always had a second favourite? Perhaps you are convinced you wouldn't support anyone else or would just support your local non-league team? Maybe you would just support the next most local team (I am sure JohnnyT would support Liverpool for instance :D). There could be so many options

Are you even prepared to admit who you would support?

Well I support Watford through my family so not really sure (my Mum's side originally)

First game aged 6 and all that.

Probably be whoever they supported instead.

My Dad is from Essex and watched Southend as a boy but not now of course.

Maybe someone like Arsenal as they are local.

Most likely Leeds, all things considered. When I started they were fighting at the top and winning titles. The go-to Yorkshire club for glory hunting back then.

The Villa. My grandad took me to all their home games until he died when I was ten, my old man took me to all the Blues home games and told me my Villa watching days were over.

That would be St Albans really.

I think Luton are the nearest league team but Arsenal the nearest big team and it's who most people around here support of those sort of clubs (much more than Spurs..)

My old man has been a Chelsea ST holder for nearly 50 years and tried to convince me to support them when I was really little. So if Brighton hadn’t been an option I’d have grown up a Chelsea STH.

If Brighton vanished now I’d go and support Worthing full time. Up the Mackerel Men etc

If Reading had never existed, probably Southampton, only club that I have any connections to with family original from the area with grandparents being fans, but I was brought up on other side of Hampshire meant Reading were the most local professional club to me.

If Reading liquidated I would move to the phoenix club. If that was not an option, probably Leicester from living in the area more recently and attending a lot of their games. Have more affinity with that city then almost anywhere else in the country.

If I was desperate for a Football League side then it would be between Cambridge and Colchester,

    Arsenal? Barnet? Orient?

My dad grew up in Glasgow / Scotland so had an affinity with Rangers before moving down to London as a teen. He went to Spurs with his mates home and away and so the Spurs connection in our family began. Had Spurs never existed I'm sure they'd have still all gone to watch another London club and logically you think it would have likely been Arsenal. That said Barnet would probably have been closer / more convenient so would have been a good alternative.

I don't think West Ham or Chelsea would have been realistic options for them so it would have been somewhere closer to Spurs. Orient is the only other club I can imagine that they'd have gone to outside of Arsenal or Barnet.

Although I was born / grew up in London, my big football influence was my dad so I'd have just followed whatever misery he drummed in to me.

We moved to Peterborough when I was nine but I was already football obsessed by then so I don't think they'd ever have been a realistic alternative. If not following the footsteps of my dad I think it still would have been another London club.

Don't lie. You'd be a Portsmouth season ticket holder. Admit it...

I'd be a United fan. Thankfully this nightmare scenario has been avoided.

I thought you were born in Spain? ;)

Which team I would support if my HSV wouldn't exist? Easy. NONE!!! Because without the HSV I wouldn't exist either :D

My Dad and my Mom met at a HSV vs Altona93 match in 1957 in the old Oberliga Nord (top tier for the Northern clubs before the Bundesliga).

Barry Town (United) probably. Went to see them a few times growing up as my Dad knew the owner at the time. Still watch a fair bit of non-league football now, although I've lived in England a fair while.

Only if i could attend wearing a suicide bomb :whistle

Born in Southampton mush, but spent my childhood split between Southampton and Barcelona, i'm four generations sotonian and could actually validly have a reason to support Barcelona but instead followed the place of my birth, i must be f*cking stupid really
