Caught a bit of Serie A action for the first time in a while. Samp vs Napoli was one-way street as soon as Osimhen got the opener. Shame as the hosts looked decent going forward and Napoli's right-wing doesn't look solid (Di Lorenzo & Politano). Kvara had an off day though so the scoreline could have been heavier than 2-0. Rincon did get a red in the first half for a daft challenge on Osimhen. Milan/Roma wasn't a great watch given the lack of chances but all the talk will be about how the hosts threw away a 2-0 lead against a Roma side who were poor going forward: they scored both goals on set-pieces which asks a lot of questions regarding Milan's defence. This means Napoli now have a handsome 7-pt lead on both Milan & Juventus (who beat Udinese 1-0 thanks to a late goal). Can't see how the southerners can throw this away against such feeble opposition. Long way to go yet though (21 matchdays left). Still, glad Calcio is back!
Me either. They are now destroying Juve in good part to Victor Osimhen. (Too bad Nigeria wasn’t in the recent WC: what a talent and only 24.) Good times in the South: Napoli on fire, little Lecce punching above their weight, and Mexican National Team GK Guillermo Ochoa between the posts for Salernitana.
Juventus deducted 15 points and drop down to 11th in Serie A but suspect they will appeal. https://football-italia.net/official-figc-reopen-juventus-capital-gains-trial-15-point-penalty/
No drama at the top. (Top Six for Europe next year all but assured, with The Rest trailing sixth by 9 or more.). Then Napoli of course.
It perhaps bears a small mention that a week ago today, the Serie A leaders (Napoli) played the Serie A 20th place team (Cremonese) in the Coppa Italia round of 16. I’ll just advise anyone who remotely cares to find and view the game highlights.
I was afraid to look. Udinese was 0 wins, 6 draws, 4 losses in their last ten, not having won since 03 October. Plus a loss in Coppa Italia. Yeah, they travelled to lowly Sampdoria this past weekend, but I figured the Genoans would get a rare victory over my slumping Friulians. And they should have. Two misses on glorious chances by Samp kept Udinese in the game until a late score netted my homies their first win in over 3 months. The sketchiest of victories. Deolefeu my Playmaker Dude appeared for the first time in 2 months, inserted late but only lasted about 17 minutes before getting subbed out himself. Udinese says he felt a twinge but now swear he’s OK… …appears they are shopping him. Crap, such a promising season start, and now a decent chance that Villa, Roma, or Wolves will snatch my boy away.
That fan behind him is so fat! That defeat is the slap in the face Milan need but I'm not sure they have the squad to respond properly. Leao knows he can play with better teammates and more money so I reckon he'll be going to the Prem this summer (possibly replaced by Newcastle's Saint-Maximin), Ketelaere hs been rubbish, Saelemakers not having a good season, Giroud is knackered while I never really rate Brahim Diaz.
There better be. It's the missus birthday that day but she had a choice of either go to the game or do the stadium tour the next day, so she chose the game. She can't complain as the trip to Brussels, Zurich and Milan is her present!
After knocking Napoli out on their own patch lil ol' Cremonese have gone & knocked Roma out also in Coppa Italia , well done . Juve v Lazio ' Live ' on Sky 422 tomorrow , think I'll give that a watch .
Cremonese have won their first game of the season v Roma. Suspect a certain Portuguese chap is giving some players a rather hard time now!
