French Television channel ‘Canal Plus’ are reporting that newly promoted Fulham have signed Bordeaux midfielder Sylvain Legwinski.

Early reports indicate that the player has passed a medical and will be available for Fulham’s second match of the season, against Sunderland on Wednesday.

The defensive midfielder has previously played under Tigana in the Monaco team that claimed the French Championship in 1997. Both clubs have yet to comment.

Dunno anything about the player, but can't ba a bad thing I suppose. Fulham have got some good players but need to add strength in depth. If this is true then it looks like Tigana is going the right way about it!

    More big money transfer news...

French club Lyon have rejected a £10.5 million bid from Fulham for striker Steve Marlet.

Lyon manager Bernard Lacombe confirmed that the London club had made an offer for the front man; "I spoke to Jean on the phone and he made us a good offer. But now is not the time to answer that request."

We can't allow Steve to leave us so close to the Champions League campaign. Especially as Sonny Anderson is out for a month with injury and Sidney Govou is only just getting back from injury."

Despite such denials, Marlet’s agents were spotted at Old Trafford for Fulham’s Premiership debut, and an improved offer is not out of the question.

Fulham manager Jean Tigana has confirmed that he is worried that an injury to prolific striker Louis Saha could expose the club’s lack of strength in depth and is desperate to sign another striker.

Certainly can't accuse Fulham of lacking ambition! <IMG SRC="smilies/eek.gif" border="0">

If they carry on throwing around the cash and playing like they did at Old Trafford I reckon Fulham could suprise us all this season...
