Not sure of your point. One is a proven goalkeeper, one is potentially a good striker.

In both cases you can make a case why the fee is justified. My issue was could we have not found a good back up to Hart for less.

I also think that the fee for Origi is nearer £10m as this is what has been widely reported. However this could be made up of add ones and appearance related bonuses.

You paid £4m+ for a 32 year old striker...

    Nailed it.

Who was one of only 15 players in Europe last season to get into double figures for both goals & assists. 4m for a proven Prem striker who scores & creates & offers us an aerial threat for a plan b. Your gk signing doesn't make as much sense really does it.

In all honesty I do rate Lambert, but if you question our willingness to spend £6m on a proven La Liga 'keeper who is relatively young for his position, then I also question your willingness to sign a striker for around the same price who may only be good for one season? :confused

Has it been announced he's definitely back up. or is everyone guessing? He played under Pelligrini,so there could be a chance he will make Hart the sub keeper.
Don't know much about the new bloke but distribution isn't one of Harts strongpoints and maybe this is one of Pelligrinis worries. Not sure why we needed to offload Pantillimon and then buy another foreign keeper if hes just going to be a sub.

I know the Jack Osbourne lookalike work must have dried up since he fell out of the public eye but don't take it out on me.

Element of guess work but for me Hart is the No 1. This guy has been brough in to provide real competition but would expect Hart to start away at Newcastle.

To be fair I am not sure if we offloaded Pantilimon, I believe it was his choice to move on.

Does anyone else have the feeling that Jovetic can really come into his own this season? had pretty good pre-season form.

With Negredo out and question marks over Aguero's fitness, I think he's in a great position to stake his claim.

All he needs is to have a good run of games, which is something he's not had an opportunity to do with us.

    He's quality. I like him.

Agreed. Should he be able to stay fit this season I really do feel he could be a hit. Aguero, as you say, is bound to pick up at least two annoying injuries this season so Jovetic should prove to be very important. I swear he pretty much scored every time he played last season (though that wasn't very often).

Unless Aguero and Dzeko can look sharper than him in the remaining games, Jovetic will be a certainty to start at Newcastle.

On another note, this Iheanacho kid we've got looks like he's got what it takes to be a quality player. Has that slight ooze of arrogance about him. Hope we get him signed up permanently.

I really do hope we get this Iheanacho guy, any idea if he will be classed as home grown at all? (The rules of that confuse me a little) Also, what do you guys think of Lampards proposed move to City? Will be pretty awesome to see him put on a City shirt in my view.

I'm think of it as more of a novelty then anything else, of course that will wear off however. If he can contribute something in our cup runs then I am all for it, he is still a decent player after all.

That's the thing, I just don't think he will. I'd rather younger players got games in the Cups anyway.
