Do loan players count towards your number of English players required? I think that is the only reason we have loaned him personally.

To be truthful, I'm not too sure with loan players. I'd like to think it does.

I'm indifferent. We don't need him in terms of squad strengh, but I guess it can't be too bad a move for cover should we need it. He comes with vast experience too which can only benefit any of our young midfielders.

So. Mangala finally signs. Much needed after our defensive frailties were exposed yesterday.
Can't say I have seen much of him, does anyone believe this is a decent investment?

I'll be honest with you, I've not seen much of him at all, and I find it hard to believe that he's worth the money. But then again, I trust Pellegrini's judgement, he's not put a foot wrong in the transfer market yet.

From what I know and been told, his main strength is reading the game. Not sure how true that is mind but time will tell.

    Quite a hefty fee though.

Be interesting to see whether he starts with Mangala or carries on with Demichelis and settles Mangala in steady with the smaller games.

For that fee you could have had Benatia! We'll see how Sakho's understudy does...

4 years younger than Benatia, so a better investment from that point of view.

Also left-footed so provides balance alongside Kompany.

For £32m I don't believe he is the kind of player that needs to be bedded in, I am sure he can make an impact straight off.

Agreed, seems like he will be in the defence for the long haul.

Also is it just me that doesn't seem entirely convinced by Caballero? He appears to be saying he is here for the number one spot but he hasn't exactly been incredible in the games he has played (I understand two of the goals against Arsenal couldn't have been helped). Would rather have Hart between the sticks for now if I am honest.

I have no doubt that Joe Hart is still #1.

Hope your right but have a feeling he might stick with Cabellero on Sunday

I have no qualms with Caballero I just feel Hart is better.

Not written off, we would all just rather Hart was number one quite simply.

How do you know that Hart is better until he's played more? Preseason games are hardly conclusive. That BlueTony lad was telling me he was a proven keeper 5 minutes ago now he'd be upset if he played ahead of Hart who was dropped for that lanky lad 5 minutes ago. Trust in your proven keeper.

I suppose so. He is certainly a proven keeper, I believe he played every single minute in La Liga last season, performing very well in the process and is incredible back up. If he can perform a bit better in next few games then fair play, would just like to see him being a bit more imposing is all.

Because he just is, and I'm not basing that only on pre-season games.

The only thing that Caballero has going in his favour over Hart is his distribution.

He is a proven keeper but do I think that he is a better keeper than Hart... No.. Most clubs try to have a good back up and that is what we have got in Caballero. When we finished last season most City fans knew where we needed reinforcements. Centre half, right back and a good back up keeper. What I am struggling with is why Pellegrini thinks Hart is not good enough.

Is that clear enough lad :thumb

Yeah, proved a useful squad player, particularly towards the end of last season, but truthfully was never quite good enough.
