I can't imagine it's going to be pretty viewing with that squad and their historic approach to the transfer market. We were a diabolical watch for a lot of last season even with some very talented players.

I think I’m the only Palace fan that wouldn’t be impressed with that appointment.

Seems to me that's about as good as Palace can do in terms of profile of the manager. I am surprised he would go there. I expect it will be dire Mourinho-esque football but you would back him to keep them up.

It will be a follow on from Royball really but at least Nuno is able to attract a good calibre of player. Good appointment this

This would confirm that Dyche is never leaving Burnley

I can't believe he's going to Palace will be a great appointment for them.

Seems to be a lot of work there in terms of reshaping that squad though.

I'd feel more comfortable Nuno doing that than Bruno Lage though.

Did Nuno have a Director of Football at Wolves who presented him with players to sign?

Difficult job to walk into. There's been about 200 departures due to contracts end. Their best player is out injured for at least half the season and their other best player wants out. Think Dyche would probably give it a better go in the current state but long term, assuming they survive next season, could be a great appointment. Thought he'd be Everton bound myself...

In name only, it was Thelwell and now Sellars but the influence they have is overstated by the club. The last few windows the signings were heavily Mendes influenced. Wouldn't be surprised if Palace get a few Mendes signings in as Nuno was Mendes' first client and they are good friends.

I’m glad he’s heading your way and we’re looking elsewhere. I think he’s a good manager and done great at Wolves, I just don’t think we have the right type of players for him to be successful at us.

We have Freedman scouting players and then going through them with the manager where he decides what ones he wants. Unless we are ditching that system, could you see Nuno working under those constraints?

I think we've ended up with the best possible man to succeed Roy here if it happens. Very happy with the club right now

If it didn't happen now, it never will. Sorry Sean pal, it was never meant to be

Yeah, well Percy is usually pretty on the money so I expect he already has agreed to it.

When Thelwell was here I think he found the odd player such as Dendoncker so it's not like he has never worked with a DOF before.

Sounds like it could be exciting then. I know he got you to back to back 7th place finishes, but last season he looked tired and fed up. I'm surprised he's decided to get another job straight away. So I don't know what to make of it. Does he blood youth? That's what need to start doing, getting the younger players in the academy into the team.

We didn't have many youth players break through no. When your tragectory is winning the championship and then back to back 7th placed finishes I suppose you'd have to be some youth player to get a regular game.

Not from our academy, no. Gave a lot of young players their shot at Wolves, Porto & Valencia though so it's not like he's afraid to throw in a youngster if they're good enough. Our academy grads just weren't good enough.

    Least surprising news ever.

Still, if he's making a string of demands after already agreeing a deal then fair play to the club for walking away.

Cue another month of speculation before we appoint Gareth Southgate.

Probably wanted some money to spend or buy younger players ?

But yes never going to be ideal if you agree a deal then try to regain on it.

Particularly with someone like Steve Parish .
