Ajer isn't Van Djik. He's decent, but they are going to need more.

Onyeka is decent enough I guess.

Remembering they won the playoff and come into the league as essentially the bottom rated side.

Southampton, Burnely and Brighton all have more quality, established top level players than Brentford and battled into finishes in 15th, 16th, 17th.

Burnely and Newcastle are probably the two established sides I see as most under threat outside of the promoted sides.

Didn’t say it was either. Would most likely be separate deals if any of those transfers were to happen but there’s a mutual interest to keep each other happy is the point I was making.

I saw it could be worth up to £1.5m and there was a sell on clause included too.

Hakimi is an elite player. I understand your point but I definitely don’t agree with it.

Is this guy reliable Chelsea fans? Would like to get this one over the line and focus on Cucurella & a striker

I wouldn’t be so sure of that. We tried to negotiate with Atletico for a number of weeks and offer a player swap + cash deal for Partey before paying his release clause.

Us offering players isn’t strictly proof of a lack of funds.

And the last of the seven leaves

Lamela never really hit his potential but he was one of the few players who gave everything for the badge over the last few seasons.

Do Arsenal have a lack of homegrown players or something?

No. And it's not really relevant to us for this season.

The PL rules don't require a minimum number of HG players. Their rules are you can't have more than 17 non-HG players. So in effect you do need homegrown players to make up a 25 man sqaud but it's not mandatory.

It's UEFA that demands a quota of HG players. 8 HG of which 4 must come from your own academy.

But we're not in European competition this year so we don't need to fulfill that mandatory quota of HG players for at least 12 months.

We currently have the following non-HG players:

Leno, Runarsson*, Tierney, Gabriel, Cedric, Tavares, Mari, Kolasinac*, Partey, Torreira*, Lokonga, Elneny, Xhaka*, Lacazette, Aubameyang, Pepe, Willian and Martinelli but he's under 21 so doesn't 'count'.

We have 17 but those with asterisks could easily not be here in 6 weeks time. So we've got plenty of wriggle room for non-HG players.

Homegrown: Okonkwo, Bellerin*, Holding, Chambers, AMN*, Willock*, Smith-Rowe, Saka, Nelson*, Nketiah*, Balogun,

Again, those with asterisks probably won't be a part of the squad but even with them gone, we'll have 6 HG players part of the squad. With Ben White possibly coming in, that goes to 7.

So in short, no we don't have a HG problem. I just think there's a drive to start having PL experienced players in our recruitment strategy.

And yet he's not good enough for a team who have only scraped top 4 in the last two years :shrug

If there's a higher aim at the club, he isn't the answer.

Chelsea are a weird club in that regard and always have been. De Bruyne, Lukaku, Salah all weren't good enough for them.

Before injuries knocked him off course for good Sturridge was one of the best strikers in the league when he joined Liverpool from Chelsea.

European Champs, 3 finals in those 2 two seasons as well. Think you have to take that into account when looking at their league positions as a marker.

    Noted.

You have to look at the red flags. He wasn't even the main man as they came 4th, as (correct me if I'm wrong) Giroud come into the side and did the business in the back end of that season. Chelsea then went out and splashed £120m on two players that play his position and want to buy another player to play up front.

I guess that's the place of solace. Chelsea notoriously let good players go. I just don't think Abraham is in that bracket.

There's also the giant elephant in the room......we're facilitating their move for Haaland.

Not a source I recognise. Could very well be true though based on the current rumours though.

Wut. So if someone offered you a player in the Premier League who's averaged 0.52 goals per 90 over the last 2 season you'd say no to that? By your logic, why are you signing a third choice defender for a mid-table team?

Offer Aubameyang as a straight swap then, problem solved. Couldn't have both wage whores on the bill.
