It wasn't. Mane didn't fall over so varvis never going to interefere

I was more impressed with all the headers he's won.

But seriously, its amazing what passing in front of out players can do. All season we have been stuttering dueto having so many short safe passes but he just opened it up instantly by putting both full backs on the front foot and being actually able to spread the play

Yeah noticed that myself just how many headers he won when he came on, for someone thats quite short (5ft 9in)

Can't wait to see him fully fit and a fixture in the side. Only seen a few little cameos of him but what we've seen is a player that absolute oozes class. Him, Fabinho and Henderson/Gini/Keita will be the final piece of the jigsaw. World class front 3, world class defence and world class goalie. Everyone fully fit I'd say Liverpools strongest 11 in their history and thats saying something.

Nah, form dropped a bit, maybe the long string of injuries we've suffered all season, to vital players has had its effect.

We'll give someone a hiding in the next few weeks and all will be back to normal. Get Thiago fully fit and he'll make a huge difference.

Yeah there is a slight dip just now, but the lads will get going again. Keep in the hunt until next month then see where we are.

I dont know whether it is fitness, desire, injuries or what but I was thinking about the above comment about strongest ever 11.

I was thinking about 1988 team

alisson imo is certainly the best keeper since clemence. grobs was not imo as good

nicol was an amazing full back.
we had Hanson and lawrenson as cbs
we had Staunton and venison who were under rated.

our current defence with vvd in matches up but is it better?

we had mcmahon and molby who i think are forgotten too much as there so many that cane before but also whelan.

you've quite a midfield there. I would say mcmahon was as good as any and molby could pass it like anyone.

and then we had barnes rush Beardsley and Houghton.

for me a peak barnes was better than any of the 3 we have now but he was my childhood hero. Beardsley and firmino, thats an interesting one.

    what do you guys think?

    You missed Aldo out ;)

That team has always been my favourite Liverpool side to be honest despite living right through the mid 70s/mid 80s success. Dalglish also underrated as a manager imo...built an awesome side but unfortunately the european ban and later the Hillsborough disaster had a huge impact on him and the squad.

Brucie was a cracking goalie...but had his crazy moments. Alisson is the superior
Steve Nicol at right back...no contest, better than Trent although Trent still has time on his hand
Staunton/Venison v Robertson...Robertson takes that easily.Robbo is fast becoming one of my fav Liverpool players of all time, absolute love the lad and his relentless effort, he's like Joey Jones on speed .
CB pairing, Hanson and Lawro v Van Dijk and whoever is interesting and hard to call. The three mention are amongst the best CBs I have ever seen.
Midfield...Thiago has the potential to be as good as we've had to be honest, will compare others later
Up front...what a comparison :eeek Barnes and Beardsley were just sex on a football field, absolutely unplayable on their day, Houghton a workaholic in the Firmino mould and Aldo deadly in front of goals. Current three. Mane and Salah likewise as unplayable on their day, Firmino is the glue that glues the front line together all we need is a lethal striker like Aldo to compliment them perhaps off the bench.

You could disect both sides all day and not come up with an answer, I think squad wise the current one is miles better....but of course back then squads were nowhere near as deep.

Currently playing without defenders ! Phillips isn't up to scratch, Williams is too young and inexperienced
