Jurgen Klopp suggests he made Takumi Minamino mistake amid Liverpool struggles
Can Adrian play centre half?!
Gini as the 6 is the way forward. Let Thiago roam.
Both were doing well last night. Wijnaldum was extremely disciplined in his movements.
Ankle ligaments for matip.
No fit cbs. no fit emergency cb.
If fsg refuse us 20mil to buy they have to be flaming broke themselves.
Or maybe they’re just waiting til the summer to make a big move.
Well theres 18 league games and a cl campaign to worry about and no fit cbs at all. (Assume matip min 6 weeks)
We will be playing henderson and fabinho (when fit lol) there.
If we are poking round looking at a couple for the summer that fair neough but the reality is finish 5th with no cl trophy and theres no CB coming.
I am of the mind that vvd is ~ april maybe may depending on the date of op and really that is optimistic so the need is immediate.
As I’ve said before, you’re in a situation where you are either buying a squad option or going for a long term partner for VvD. The latter will be too big an outlay for a January transfer in COVID times, and the former is a difficult sell to anybody that has ambition of playing regularly. You were previously linked to Kabak, if that’s the kind of signing you’re looking at, what are you expecting to happen from a 20 year old in a new country, league and team? You can’t really take a punt on an old head because they’ll be looking for their lucrative final deals, so that’s not attractive from your POV as it’s an unnecessary outlay for a short term fix. Which is the issue really. How much do you really want to spend on a short term fix?
Ben White, as mentioned in other threads, isn’t a bad shout tbf. But he’ll have a premium. One that probably puts Liverpool off, but he’s homegrown, has potential, and wouldn’t be in a position to kick up a fuss if he’s not getting in the first 11 every week. But same as with Kabak, what can you reasonably expect them to do for you this season?
If we have to go with one of the younger lads for a sustained period I'd go Nat Phillips over Rhys Williams all day btw...neither are great but Nat is no nonsense and has less mistakes in him imo.
yeah, williams still looks a gangly teen tbh and while he seems to have a lot of talent on the ball in there.
the issue is he's a huge amount to learn and needs to fill in.
Phillips is what he is. he will play the lower half sides and win the head tennis games.
Big Jo-el out for the season with the ankle ligament injury. So that's the reason for two lads in.
As reliable as Hendo has been in defense, it will be imperative to have him back in the midfield (and also to give Gini a bit of a rest). These two new lads will help make that happen, hopefully!
3 senior centre backs with serious season ending injuries. How's ya luck?
Halfway through the season as well! Reckon that's quite rare.
Yeah, still so much football left to be played. If they can go the distance in Europe then still up to 25 games left to go. Otherwise minimum, 20.
I feel for Matip, he has no luck with injuries at all and he’s a very good player when fit but he has to go. It’s just pointless.
Yeah it might be time to start thinking about replacing some of these players. Matip is a great center back but what's the point if he never plays? Naby starting to fit that bill too. It's frustrating.
Talk of interest in Matip from PSG in the summer. If they were to come back in for him, then think the club would be wise to sell. Talk of £50 million in the summer.
It's a shame, but it doesn't matter how great a player is if they can rarely get a run in the team anymore due to fitness issues. He has 17 league starts in two seasons now. That's less than a quarter of the available starts.
Also what makes the fact we look set to lose Wijnaldum for nothing annoying. In contrast, Wijnaldum has only missed 11 league games since he joined the club in 2016.
