This is interesting, and it suggests some internal issues with Ward given he took the job on only in the Summer. Cannot say I am that alarmed as the club cocked up in the Summer. Only worry is how replacing him works given the ownership question. Would be preferable to not go into the Summer with so many question marks over the recruitment given the midfield is going to need a total revamp. Seems it was Ward's decision, which is odd. Perhaps feels he is being limited in his job.
Hope there's a chance of getting Michael Edwards back. The recruitment was virtually flawless under him.
Also head of our research/analytics team is off That's a lot of the fabric of our recruitment team gone in a short space of time. A lot of internal upheaval. Might it be sale related?
Not too sure I like the idea of the club reverting to a transfer strategy that is years out of date. Love Klopp, but is this really a smart move?
Liverpool have appointed former England man Jonathan Power as their new club doctor, according to reports. Jurgen Klopp helped lead the way. Power is actually from Liverpool and has worked across numerous medical positions in football. He’s been a ‘team performance medicine doctor’ for England across nine years, while he also worked as a team physician for their successful Under 17 and Under 19 sides. He also operated as Brentford’s matchday doctor over two years between 2019 and 2021. The report claims that Jurgen Klopp helped lead the charge for Power, with the hire being a ‘unanimous’ choice. This finally fills a void at the club since Jim Moxon left in the summer.
Sven Mislintat 'emerges as candidate' to become next Liverpool sporting director Former Borussia Dortmund chief scout Sven Mislintat is reportedly eyeing a reunion with Jurgen Klopp having expressed an interest in becoming Liverpool's next sporting director. Mislintat worked with Klopp at the Bundesliga side between 2008 and 2015 where he oversaw Dortmund's ongoing policy of signing and developing young players before selling them on for huge profits. The 50-year-old, who went on to become chief scout at Arsenal between November 2017 and February 2019, left his position as sporting director at Stuttgart on Wednesday afternoon after more than three years in the role. And reports in Germany have indicated he would be open to once again operate alongside Klopp, with Liverpool having started the process of appointing a successor to sporting director Julian Ward, who it was confirmed last week will leave the club at the end of the season. Liverpool are using Ward's imminent exit as an opportunity to consider which model will be the most effective in supporting future football operations, including transfers. Klopp, who signed a new deal in April to extend his Reds commitment to 2026, will be part of the process, with Liverpool CEO Billy Hogan also involved. While at Dortmund, Mislintat was responsible for the signings of Robert Lewandowski, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ousmane Dembele, Mats Hummels and Shinji Kagawa, that majority of which were later sold at a sizeable profit.
Luis Diaz's knee injury hasn't settled, he needs surgery and is expected to be out til March. Yay. Caused by someone who should be in prison.
