Villa won the first league cup in the 1960-61 season. I’m not sure what photo they’ve used because he left Villa to join Stockport in 1960 and only played one game for Villa that year, against Liverpool. Must have just used a random old photo from around that time

They probably just googled something and picked the first picture they saw!

Your Uncle should ask for copyright rates!

    He should

I’ve got a feeling it’s actually a squad photo from the 1957 cup final. He only played 22 times for Villa because they didn’t have subs back then and was never a starting 11 player after being signed from a local team, but he’s got an FA cup winners medal so can’t complain at that!

And not many Villa players can say that..!

Did he have a good career at Rochdale - I remember they got to a League cup final too around then?

Very true! He was never at rochdale it was Stockport he joined after. He played 43 times for them in 2 seasons but then retired at 29/30 due to his knee. Went on to work cutting diamonds until he was 75(!!) before he sadly passed away

West Ham manager David Moyes says the Carabao Cup should be revamped as the "British Cup" and include teams from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The Scot, 56, said top teams should be able to opt out of the competition to help deal with fixture congestion.

The comments come after Uefa president Aleksander Ceferin said it would be "better for everyone" if the competition was scrapped.

"I think it could do with a revamp," Moyes said.

"My opinion on it is I've always thought we should have included Scotland.

"Call it the British Cup. A couple of teams from Northern Ireland, maybe two of the Welsh League clubs. That would give us something different."

Having Celtic and Rangers there to get spanked would give the cup something extra. But it’s still not financially appealing so can’t see teams that don’t currently take it seriously doing anything different.

Tonight depends on what team and manager wants it most.

1-2 Arsenal. It annoys me but Klopp doesn't give a f**k about the domestic cups and the players know it. That will continue this season.

Liverpool have a good home record in it I think especially against Arsenal, even with that 5 - 5 draw last year. However Arsenal to tend to have some good youngsters like Saka in their squad which could make life tricky and they might play Pepe to get him some game time too. I think Klopp will stick to blending youngsters with some first teamers and let them rip and see how that goes. If it works great, if not, he's not arsed. I think the QF's are in late December so thats the last thing he'll want to think about when it comes around I suppose. I'll go 2 - 2 with Arsenal winning on pens in a reversal of last season where we prevailed.

In fairness we have a pretty strong second string now, will be interesting to see what team we field.

Not arsed about the league cup we beat them in the league that's all that matters. Be nice to progress but won't be losing sleep over it if we get pumped.

Let's be reasonable here, we were by far the better team in normal time and should have put our chances away :shrug. It wasn't a case of playing a team ill prepared for the game and being beaten, it was a lottery draw after not putting them away :shrug.

Having seen the draw I'm not unhappy we went out, could do without adding a game against City into a busy Christmas schedule.

Best team to get knocked out of the cup and avoid City in the next round in the world.

Not the greatest game but some positives to take. I would’ve loved to have done better in the domestic cups this year so it’s a shame we are out of this one, hopefully we do better in the FA Cup, we’ve the squad capable of challenging on all fronts.
