I read on Skysports that one of the many reasons why Conte turned it down was he isn't keen on working with youngsters.

That I can believe considering the few instances at Inter. Most notable one was the opportunity to sign Tonali and turned it down because he wanted Vidal.

    Absolute prat.

He’s a prat because he wants the tools to win? Which he inevitably does.

Lots of talk about why it broke down from Conte not convinced Spurs have the ambition to be successful to Levy not happy with Conte's unwillingness to play youth football.

I agree that it probably wasn't a good fit but you have to question what the hell the club are doing when profiling candidates. It's not like Conte is some unknown manager.

Why even sit down with Conte to discuss the possibility if you've got a good idea that Conte isn't going to fit a rebuilding project?
The last 3-6 months have been a shambles from the football club.

Saw a tweet saying that in the last couple of years Spurs have now been very close to signing Ruben Dias, Dybala, Bruno Fernandes, Grealish and I'm guessing there's more but all have slipped through their fingers for one reason or another.

Although he's a manager maybe Conte can be added to that list?

The Spurs fans will know better than me though whether that's a worrying trend or it was different circumstances each time.

This is full tin hat but I think Levy went into negotiations knowing full well Conte wouldn't accept the job.

Spurs are always going to face an uphill struggle to attract players and have to think outside the box a bit in that regard and in some instances "luck out" on a player.

They have no real tangible recent success to point to and now are firmly back in the category of being a team a player can use to hop on to another bigger club in a few seasons. This was Liverpool's problem for a while in the last decade until Klopp came. Coutinho is probably the last player who "used" the club in that way.

I guess Spurs have to make their next managerial choice a good one so that they can build the club around them. But the fact they went for Mourinho (serial short termist) and then were heavily linked to Conte (serial short termist) doesn't bode well. Besides that just going back for their previous regime has been the most heavily talked about option.

Can't even dispute this because the idea of Conte taking that job made no ****ing sense whatsoever.

I dunno if he was an option but Sarri has been confirmed as the Lazio manager.

It's a shame he is a bit underappreciated over here, I have a feeling Everton and Spurs will both appoint worse managers than Sarri

As obvious as this sounds, they need Paratici to nail it as much as Fonseca.

Tbh this looks like a pretty good fit given our current personnel.

The fact Roma sacked Fonseca and replaced him with the man you just sacked says it all really. Clearly the result of not being able to have any better options.

I'd much rather have Potter. Not fussed if it's Harry or Graham.

I can't imagine this is how Levy expected things to go when he binned Mourinho. Talk about down to the dregs.
