Yeah MGW is going if that bid is true £40m is insane. He's not worth that. We are buying Guedes for 27!
Guedes is a funny one. Always wanted him to succeed but he’s only delivered in drips and drabs for the national team. Not convinced by how he’ll do in the premier league but nonetheless he does strengthen Wolves
Hope Forest finish bottom now with this spending spree. Madness. No respect shown to the under contract players that got them promoted. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Not 13 but 11 (Only counting senior players), Awoniyi, Biancone, Niakhate, Richards, Williams, Hennessey, Toffolo, O'Brien, Lingard, Mangala, Moreno?
****, I'm not sure how I'm going to get over this For your info though this was generally the starting XI that got us up last season: Samba - left Spence - left Worrall - started against Newcastle Cook - injured McKenna - started against Newcastle Lowe / Colback - Lowe left / Colback started again Newcastle Yates - injured Garner - left Zinckernagel - left Johnson - started against Newcastle Davis / Grabban / Surridge - Davis left / Grabban left / Surridge started against Newcastle Where I've included more than one name in a position is where I'd argue more than one player played a key part in our promotion! But every key player contracted last season either started against Newcastle or would have started had they not been injured! Then delving into our squad, there are a number of players who hardly got minutes in the Championship because they weren't deemed good enough for that level so hardly likely to step up to the PL. Lareya has gone back to Canada on loan, Ojeda has gone off on loan somewhere, Lolley is off to Australia apparently. It didn't matter what league we were in this season, a squad overhaul was going to be a requirement. Had Huddersfield stuck the ball in the net at the right end and beaten us in the playoff final, we'd be doing the exact same except we'd be shopping in League 1 hoping to find a gem, and replacing more players because we'd have lost Johnson and Worrall no doubt. I doubt anyone, especially all the PL fans crying about this, would have taken a second glance at our transfer activity had that been the case! I'm sure every Forest fan would have loved to be promoted with a settled squad that just needed one or two additions but we haven't and now we need to react to this whilst the riches are available to us!
This. We might have to start putting this in our signatures soon so we stop repeating ourselves. Promotion came as a surprise and after 23 years away the squad and club generally is not Premier League. We've had to play catch up this summer in a big way. Everyone at the club has said we'd ideally come up with a settled permanent team and add one or two but the surprise nature of our promotion and temporary make up of the squad means that unless we were happy to go up, get slapped about then come down, we had to spend just to get bodies in. We may still end up getting slapped about but the club are clearly doing their utmost to ensure we're coming up and staying up. It was actually impossible to keep last years team. So let that be the end of the discussion
Fair play to putting in this much effort responding to what was a stereotypical Prem-fan shit post where they lack any sort of knowledge below the country's top 20 teams.
Are any of you guys concerned that your owners might be gambling your club here? Or are you confident the only thing been spent is what you can afford/he will bankroll. It's better to be promoted when not ready than not be promoted at all, i'd just be a little concerned over the long term finances in your approach, especially if you don't manage to stay up. The problem goes away of course if you do stay up, just has a bit of a doubling down feel to things now (from the outside)
Report: Nottingham Forest considering Cheikhou Kouyate Well it has been a few days... Apparently we offered him a one year deal (we don't generally give more to players over 30) but he wants two. Solid enough player who could do a job for most sides outside the top six. Just don't let him loose on social media.
If we do sign MGW for anywhere near the 40 million I will be abit concerned we are starting to gamble somewhat. And I think surely they'd be a point where we would be getting close FFP wise. But even before Dane Murphy's came in last summer we have always been compliant under this ownership and we'd have a firesale in the future to balance things I'm sure if things didn't go to plan
As I've said before, I can't change it so why worry about it? What I can say is that the owners have given no cause for concern before so all we can do is trust the process. However, £40m for MGW seems like quite an erratic decision to me!
Why are people so bothered about what Forest are spending?. Their investing inn a very thin squad to try and stay in the premier league. And they have actually bought some decent players. MGW is a very good player too. If £40m is what it takes to secure him, then £40m is going to be what they have to pay. A player is worth what the selling club says he’s worth.
MGW has had one very good season in the Championship, he has proven nothing in the Premier League yet. He could turn out to be brilliant or he could go down the route of plenty of other players that look good at the level below but not at the top level? I wouldn't fancy paying £40m to find that information out though.
Everything is crumbling around us, just relegate us now and take us back to out spiritual home. The promised land is a bit shit anyway to be honest!
