I thought he was dropping down the pecking order and that he's going the same way for you as he would for us. The bench. Think I'd rather have £20mill put towards a first 11 player, as would you. Unless you think he's going to be a regular. For us that money could be put on a new, much needed keeper, or Harrison to sit on the bench and rotate now and then. I think he's a decent player but I think we have more pressing issues than depth at winger when we need a 1st choice CB, and we'll need a Youri replacement in the summer.
Just checking his stats for us, he’s played in 17 PL games this season (13 full games based on minutes). Still very much involved in the first team, although with a bit more competition now that Sinisterra is fit and Rutter has joined.
Sini, Gnonto, Rutter, Summerville and Aaronson can all play in wide areas, so we do have plenty of options in the positions he plays. Think he's a good solid player though, unless we were going to use the money for a left back i'd keep him here and extend his contract (assuming he wants to sign).
Keylor Navas sounds close for us. Probably in for the United game on Wednesday. We're also clearly after a CB, linked with Felipe from Atletico Madrid on loan. Also more obscure links with Tanganga from Spurs and Tah from Leverkusen
PSG are said to heavily subsidizing his wages so I'm all on board with this one. Unfortunately the Palace fans were bang on the money on Wayne Hennessey and I'd say he's only third choice PL standard these days. A CB with pace would be a nice cherry on the top for us this window.
We've obviously gone for it a bit but I think I was a bit oblivious before as to the actual pulling power and money involved in the Premier League. It really is mental.
Zaha is out for six weeks (not that he’s done anything recently anyway) and we are still refusing to sign anyone. Shambles. No midfield and weak winger options. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
so is Dean Henderson out for the season? if you are loaning Navas as well that will cause an issue with him
It is not really known how long he is out for, Cooper and the club are notoriously secretive when it comes to these sort of things. I'd have a hunch it will be more than a couple of games though if Navas is coming in.
...and actively trying to sell Mateta. No strikers, no wing cover, only one midfielder and two of the worst right backs in the league. All because the chairman has an obsession with Gallagher and AWB. So much pressure on our centre backs and Ozoh being good enough.
Seems a lot of money to spend to cover a couple of games but not exactly something Forest have concerned themselves with!
The word was 4-6 weeks after your game at our place so that's over 2 weeks ago now. So there's a possibility that he could only miss 4 more games or so. One of which is United in the cup which he can't play anyway and another is City at home, would it matter for that really? I reckon I could go in goal and it'd be the same outcome. As Chris has said though the club put out a lot of bollocks about injuries though, players have been known to come back days after we're told they're out for weeks and players have been out for months when we've been told weeks. So there's every chance Henderson could miss more games and obviously every point counts at this stage. The club clearly don't fancy Hennessey to keep goal for any longer as he's a liability. Only concern I have is next season. We'll have 2 very expensive keepers (both reportedly getting over 100k a week from us) for the next 5 months and then none. I'd like to sign Henderson permanently if we stay up and surely signing someone to potentially keep his place during a loan spell where he's supposed to be getting first team football will affect that.
There are lots of mixed reports about the state of Henderson's injury but I think a signing like Navas would indicate his injury is a lot more serious than first expected. As has previously been said, a combination of Hennessey and Jordan Smith is not ideal for a PL survival battle
I appreciate placing all our hopes on a 35-year-old sicknote is beyond desperate for a club who's been in the PL for the past 10 seasons but having Jimmy Mac back in training is a massive boost. Still need at least one midfielder but getting him alongside Doucoure would improve us massively. Hopefully he can stay fit.
4 years after we sold him we have finally signed a replacement for Mahrez only until the end of the season then he has to return to Shaktar under FIFA regulations but I think we can buy him after that
This year must be the highest ever spent , in a January Transfer window for the premier league , some crazy over spending IMO
