Shadow and Bone.
Enjoyable and a bit different.
Season 2 out now chief.
Only 8 episodes though sadly.
Binged Sherlock recently. I really liked it. Especially earlier Sherlock. Mostly carried by Cumberbatch and Freeman. Mary and the final season saw it dive in quality though sadly. Hope they somehow do 1 more season of it eventually.
Liked that. Been reliably informed the books are better but would watch a season 2.
I can highly recommend Upright starring Tim Minchin if you can get hold of it on your shores..
Colony (Series 1) [Netflix]
Dystopian post-alien invasion series, with the scruffy unshaven bloke from Lost and Lori from Walking Dead a married couple on opposite sides of the resistance movement. Derivative, with echoes of V and countless other films and series, but still well written and fairly interesting.
The Third Day (Now TV)
Jude Law stars in the lead in psychological thriller not totally dissimilar to The Wicker Man. Definitely enjoyable watching if you suspend your disbelief. I didn’t bother with the 10 hour ‘live’ episode though.
Colony (Series 2) [Netflix]
More of the same, an obviously bigger budget and more about the aliens, and now both husband and wife are in the resistent movement. It's fallen into some obvious cliches though, with resistance groups wiping each other out rather than actually resisting the invaders, and the main characters' children are now an annoying ball and chain preventing character development. Still watching though as it's my 'kind of thing'.
Can't stand that [email protected]!
Just finished watching The Innocent on Netflix.
Really enjoyed it. Shame that it's only 1 Season. Many plot twists and can be confusing but ties in nicely at the end.
Worth a watch.
Last episode of Mare Of East Town tonight. It's been emotional..
I'm bingeing this at the moment, just d/loaded the final episode, but I've only watched the first two so far. Kate Winslet's very impressive thus far.
Homeland - Series 7
Brilliant, the best since the 4th series. Looking forward to seeing how it all gets wrapped up.
Mare of Easttown
Intense, bleak tale of a small town detective, her family, the community and the stresses they all come under when a senseless murder happens among them. The eponymous 'Mare' is Mare Sheehan, a woman already at her wits end with a difficult and complex family, an ex-husband living next door and the sadness of her son's suicide overshadowing everything.
Kate Winslet is brilliant in a gritty, unflattering role and the plot has twist after twist before eventually revealing all.
Good stuff. 8.227/10
Loved this. I thought I'd cracked the twist at the end only to be foiled by another twist. And as you say Stret, Kate is brilliant throughout. Highly recommended.
Like you I thought it was all nicely tied up, but then I noticed there was still 20 minutes left . . .
It’s a Sin. Just this minute.
Just wow. Funny but just achingly sad. Keeley Hawes exceptional.
Colony (Series 3) [Netflix]
I knew this show had been cancelled at the end of series 3 so the cliffhanger was no surprise. Shame, it was still developing nicely and still watchable.
Worth a watch providing you know it will end prematurely.
I've watched the first 3 episodes and i've been underwhelmed so far, i'll watch episode 4 later today and hope it improves.
I predicted the ending after 2 episodes but still enjoyed the show Kate Winslet is a brilliant actress.
