Don't fret petal. You're not the first person to mistakenly believe people sharing an opinion differing from your own equates to them being in a clique and you won't be the last.
You're probably right. I am in a bit of an argumentative mood so I'm probably not expressing myself as I might usually but I can begrudgingly accept that Southgate is getting results despite the lack of actual coaching ability he has.. something I could accept from my club but not being overly invested in England it just bores and annoys me with the talent we have at our disposal and the fact he's probably staying on long term even if we don't win the euros it just feels like such a waste.
No one is having a go at Muller for criticising Southgate. Every manager can be criticised, just like Klopp can be for Liverpool. People are having a go at him for claiming to support England and referring to England as "we" even when he openly admits he doesn't care if they lose knockout games and won't even cheer them winning the Euros. Because he thinks it gives his criticism of England credibility. If a Liverpool fan said they don't care if Liverpool lose and they wouldn't be happy if they won the CL but still claimed to be a fan and referred to Liverpool as "we" people would rightfully laugh at them, regardless of Liverpool's success. Then going on some bizarre crusade calling everyone else "sheep" for seeing supporters who actually care if the team they support don't win against Ukraine. He's not an England fan, he's a neutral who is deliberately trying to WUM England fans.
Why can't I call it we? I am English I want them to win the tournament so why should I have to stop using the word we when I say anything negative?
World cup semi final in his first tournament, beating Germany in the knockouts for the first time in 55 years? Sounds like a man lacking coaching ability to me.
The relevance is what has he done since that suddenly changes your opinion. Yes he’s got an exceptionally talented squad through qualifying and the group stages (we won’t mention the Scotland match) and he gambled and won of first match in 55 years against a poor (by their standards) German team. Don’t get me wrong we celebrated last nights victory and are eagerly looking forward to Saturday. I want to see England win an international tournament before I die and due to luck in the draw this is the first time it looks achievable. I just don’t understand the adulation that Southgate is getting, he’s done nothing of any note in his managerial career and turned the job down when first offered it because he knew he wasn’t up for it. That said I just pray his luck holds and football gets to come home at last.
You didn't have to resort to insults mate I've been nothing but respectful I just have a different opinion and you can't handle it as per.
Taken over a team that was at one it's lowest points after crashing out to Iceland and the Big Sam debacle and taken them to a World Cup Semi Final and at a minimum a Euros Quarter Final in the space of 5 years. Just give me a minute to let the respectfulness wash over me...
Ah yes, Gareth Southgate is coaching the players he spends about 10 weeks a year with usually. He's been manager of England 2 years longer than he was manager of Middlesbrough and has managed a third of the games.
