Yeah it's a good deal right now as you say but also a bit of a double edged sword as if he lives up to his potential then you could've been looking at £25m-£30m or more.

But right now, I agree. Good deal for everyone involved.

I don't think any player could reach that valuation in Scottish football, no matter what they do. Such is the disrespect that the market shows for the league. Especially for a full-back, £16m is as good as it gets and then some more (in terms of what I thought possible). Even if he moves on again in a couple of years time for £30-£40m then we couldn't look back on this and say if he'd stayed we'd have gotten more

Didn't Tierney go for £25m with 1 year left on his contract? Not 100% sure how long he had on his deal but I don't think it was long.

That's who I was thinking of when quoting potential fees for Patterson if he turns out as good as we expect.

Martin Boyle would go for a similar fee too.

I'm talking generally. There are of course exceptions. There won't be many/any sales of £25m-£30m departing this league for the foreseeable future imo. Our track record for selling players was never going to allow the jump straight to £25-£30m no matter if we had held onto the lad for another year or two. Tierney was able to get into their side and reached higher heights before the sale. Our options with Patterson were: sell now when his stock is already quite high and we have a better option already in his position; or hold onto him and take the risk of his reputation as such a talent going downhill through lack of gametime (more prolonged/another season) or being forced into an unnatural position.

£16m is great business for what he has shown so far and taking any risk of the devaluation of that asset out of the equation. Timing as much as anything is important also. When you can fund a transfer window by selling a substitute it is hard to turn away.

    Aye, fair enough.

Can't disagree with any of that.

I wouldn't usually talk of players being valued at the same as Tierney because he was clearly a Champions League level talent. But from what I've seen and heard of Patterson I thought he was rated as having similar potential which has been backed up by the fee you're getting to a certain extent. Everton are paying for the potential because they know, like Tierney, £16m could end up being well below his value.

But for now, especially with him not getting into your best side due to Tavernier, it's a good deal no doubt.

How utterly desperate was all their 'old firm' stuff.

Like the dumped ex who still keeps posting photos of your time together on facebook.

Unblocked the serial bullshitter last night to see what he's been saying as the last i heard from him they were walking this seasons title.

It seems he's saying nothing and hasn't been on.

The Rangers are coming they told us. One pandemic cup played for in exceptional circumstances.

They came, they didn't stay very long and now reality is kicking in for them again.

Rewarded with arguably the toughest team in the tournament. Win the semi and you should be capable of beating the other two.

    Who are they?

Not making things up again are you? :fail:

    How not?

No desperation, just reality being flaunted at those who seek to live outside of its realms. It hurts you that your lies are believed by noone but your own :laugh:

Good touch from the club, well overdue given that they agreed to a friendly with a club as criminally corrupt as yours. Which hasn't been forgotten although the supporters made them do the right thing eventually.

Rangers battered you in your dead certain Terry Munro year. By 25 points. Easy. Then qualified for another European semi whilst yous were pumped out of your third in a season, yet again.

You didn't even block me you absolute lunatic :laugh:

That has been firmly established by a fellow poster and also by your raving mad replies to my every post despite claiming you couldn't see them :laugh::laugh:

You're the laughing stock of this forum fella, football aside. It's embarrassing

You won't see me on here on a game day because I follow my team. You should try it instead of tagging me on a forum at half-time when your team is playing

Why the obsession with me anyway? Flattering as it is

It's never as simple as that.

No. We've just gotten to another semi-final in Europe with yourselves still struggling to win a single knockout tie in 18 YEARS, not months.:laugh:

Just you worry about the European knockout tie cup and winning back your Terry Munro this year as you put it so well last year....and leave the big European level clubs to it.

    Luck? :roflmao:roflmao:roflmao:roflmao:roflmao
I suppose your team has just been unlucky in comparison ffs, same as they were with the 25 point defecit last season :laugh:
Like I say, always cheated, never defeated.

That was a genuinely side splitting read, absolutely love how raging you are
