But then many say it makes the game more open and exciting but fair point.

Open and exciting but ultimately pointless. We essentially just watched a friendly match.

Away goals used to be what European football was all about.

Sadly it's all about making it easier for the bigger teams. Generally over 2 legs the bigger teams will win out in the end. Removing away goals and taking a level tie to extra time just tips the odds further in their favour.

His "best scene" was when he tried to say something to Harry Kane before the penalty. No chance to bring 'arry out of his concentration :p

Today Borussia vs PSG. If they play like last weekend in Leipzig (1-4 loss) they'll have no chance to get a decent result at home for the the 2nd leg. Fingers crossed, though. I want to see a replay of the CL final of 2013 in Wembley :hopefully

Did our officials manage to avoid any controversy?

Not quite, Dortmund should have had a pen 1st half, otherwise ok.

Atwell not very good at giving those on VAR.

He must have good friends at UEFA.

Decent win for Dortmund but suspect PSG will pull through .

Sancho was amazing tonight and so was hummels as usual. If hummels was playing in the premier league or la liga most of his career he'd get way more recognition. The guys one of the best defenders ever

Mats Hummels, one of the best defenders ever? Ever?

Dortmund at least with a win, although 1-0 is maybe not enough but better than the 1-1 in the group phase (and then they lost 0-2 in Paris but still got the #1 spot ahead of PSG )

Anyway, the 5th CL spot is now secured for Bundesliga (together with Serie A) next season. :thumb

    Good news for Dortmund themselves.

Means they will probably get back in.

yeah, through the "backdoor" ;). Most likely not due to league standings, 5pts gap to Leipzig at #4 spot with only 3 matches to play.

:hmmm Or if they win the Champions league

Hypothetically: What if they really win the CL and also are 5th in the Bundesliga (which they will be at the end of the season) ? Does the Bundesliga then get a 6th CL spot? Because the winner of the CL is automatically qualified. Idk?

Won't happen anyway that Borussia wins it but as I wrote....hypothetically ;)
