That's how it's worked for 99% of clubs since forever.

That's like a rangers fan trying to claim the trophies won before they were wound up.

    You lot were bankrupt.

Good move. Just one year. Allows us to get a body in this summer and then another next summer. I earmarked him for cup games and league matches against relegation fodder this season but he's actually played some of our biggest matches this season.

Seeing links between us and tons of random right backs. No smoke without fire as they say.

On paper a RB isn't an urgent signing with veltman, lamptey and Hinshelwood providing cover there. However, lamptey and veltman will both be out of contract at the end of next season, so it may well be forward planning for losing both of them over the next 13ish months

Our most important business of the summer is already done: Iraola has signed a contract extension.

Bournemouth feel like a very well run club right now.

Used to be if you were decently run you’d stand a very good chance of staying up vs the teams run by chaos - too many well run teams now it’s just going to get harder and harder.

Bit of a surprise - I think almost everyone expected him to take up a coaching role with us rather than leaving. Correct decision for him not to stay as a player either way imo, he just doesn't have the legs for it anymore

Ross Barkley in as his replacement seems nailed on, IMO.

He seems to have found his feet again at Luton.

Was he only on a one year deal with Luton? It definitely sounds like the kind of free transfer we'd go for. That said, I think he has generally been playing deeper for Luton than lallana typically did for us, so it's not necessarily a direct replacement. Personally I'd push Gross into the AM position as the replacement

In that case, with dahoud/milner hopefully off (and maybe moder as well, though I'd be tempted to give him next season personally) and the potential for Hinshelwood's switch to RB to be permenant, there's definitely room to bring in a few (sorely needed) reinforcements at CM/DM. So I could see Barkley coming in either way, just as more of a replacement for Gross at CM than lallana at AM

I was thinking profile as much as position, tbf. I think it was Naylor who said about us wanting another Lallana type player in the squad. Now he’s gone I can only imagine that need is even stronger.

Realistically there isn’t many options out there who come close to even partially filling both categories whilst being realistic signings. Henderson? Thiago? Dele Alli at the biggest of pushes. Barkley ticks a lot of boxes if we can get him for nothing/next to nothing.
