Arsenal draw is very favourable. France, Spain, Holland - easy journeys. And should be comfortable with each side. United's is tough but they should be able to finish 2nd. However they are totally shit this season. Galatasaray away is a banana skin, and Denmark in autumn/heading into winter could be a drab game. City's is hilariously easy. Maximum points. Newcastle's is tough as **** but they won't be whipping boys. Surely after so long away you want glamour ties anyway? Celtic have a route into at least Europa, and might be able to finish 2nd - but it's Brendan Rodgers so they won't do either.
Pretty happy with that draw. Sevilla are experienced and know what they are doing at this level but they finished 12th in the league last year. We faced PSV last year in the Europa but they've lost Simons and Gakpo since then and potentially Sangare and Bakayoko in the coming days. And then RC Lens have lost Seko Fofana and Lois Openda this summer. PSV and Sevilla away will be tough but we've got to be looking at topping this group.
Fancy United to finish 3rd behind Galatasaray tbh they'll struggle going to Turkey with the shit Ten Hag serves up.
I do think this campaign will go a long way to deciding how long Howe keeps his job. If he looks out of depth at this level then think the owners will have their eyes on an upgrade. Even if the league campaign is steady. What went down on Sunday makes me think he will struggle with the pressure. We shall see though.
Had a feeling Wilfried Zaha would end up in Man Utd's group. Scenes when he scores the goal that knocks them out.
Disappointed that no one has said ‘group of death’ yet. United are very fortunate to get into the second pot, group looks very easy to get out of.
Make the most of this format of eight groups of four teams. Next season we have 36 teams in one big group. Bag of bollocks IMO but am sure UEFA won't lose any sleep over my displeasure.
City with a favourable draw again. They shouldn't have any issues getting through. Utd have a hard draw but not doomed to failure, Bayern is a likely write off for both legs, Copenhagen and Galatasaray at home will probably yeild 6 points, whilst probably a point at both away games will probably see them qualify. Newcastle, ouch, welcome back to the Champions League. They'll be heavily reliant on their home games to see them get something from that group.
All about the money isn't it whilst players and managers ask for less games their pay masters want more.
