Do you agree with the FA's decision to spend this amount of money on a new National Stadium when there are so many clubs in danger of going under?
couldn't we have built about 4 millenium stadiums with that? well i'm not sure how its gonna cost so much, but it will be impressive, but the England roadshow has been a success recently... the money was loaned by this german bank, ironically, not sure how they'll get their money back...any1 in the know?
I obviously know nothing about the whole Wembley debate - but what was wrong with giving the old Wembley a coat of paint? I know it was never going to last, but Millenium Stadium is just going to turn into a White Elephant now. At least we played there once.
Wembley was in need of upgrading, but I do believe this massive amount of cash also could've be used to save money-stricken clubs in the lower leagues. But I guess this brings up an old debate of Club v Country.
What's the betting the final total after it has been completed is nearly 1 billion. I mean...3/4 of a billion for a bloody stadium...what are we making it out of? Gold? :
:Stupid: Agree totally m8 - that figure was just an estimate and by the time the final pieces are in place its going to have cost a fortune. And to me, Wembley was maybe special for players but I never liked the feckin place - there was too far between the bye line and the terracing as was and the seating that replaced it.
Re: Re: £757 million Well Spent? Don't talk stupid, the German Bank West LB, the lottery and the Government have put up this money to build a national stadium. In West Lb's case they hope to eventually make a profit out of the deal. Can't see many companys willing to put money into pulling lower league clubs out of the shit can you?. This country needs a national Stadium and we are going to get one of the best in the world, so stop moaning.
Ahh well the real cost of the project is probably closer to £100 million, but then the FA's consultant has to consult with a consultant. This in turn means the F.A's consultant's consultant has to consult with his consultant. The consultant's, consultan'ts consultant then has to overlook said ideas and then consultant his consultant and so on and so forth, then back to coming to amicable agreement; possibly and preferably over a lunch at an expensive West End restaurant followed by a play. Then the consultant's, consultant's, consultants, consultants consultant wil consult the FA. So We start off at original price and add £650 million+!:
Its a complete and utter joke... They should have moved the stadium to Birmingham where it would have been more central to all of England, it would have been alot lot lot cheaper to build, also building from scratch would allow the correct infrastructure to be put into place... Wembley is a shit hole (the town & the stadium) ~ the famed twin towers actually house the stairs to the upper part of the stadium and were for most people ~ a hugh urinal which was used consistently by all visiting fans is this really the heritage that everyone was so keen to keep...
Way too much cash, im sure the japs n koreans built their stadiums for alot less than this, and also the welsh did too, so how come ours is costin so much???
Re: Re: Re: £757 million Well Spent? I shouldn't talk stupid? Since when did I say the Krauts were going to support English clubs in the lower divisions? And why should Wembley be built in the nations capital? If you ask me, Wembley should've been built in Birmginham. It would've cost less money, and the capacity could've been much greater, and there would be more space to build it on. Mind you, that sounds like common sense, and the FA aren't known for having that.
