As part of the ALL-TIME WORLD CUP, let us build Brazil's all-time squad... Esquadrão de Ouro, que bonito é! Notes: - We need to build a 23 man squad (3 goalkeepers, 20 outfield players). - The squad should be balanced: (there should be at least two players to cover each position for the chosen formation/tactics). - We aren't just picking the 'greatest' players of a country and then crow-barring them into an XI: we need a balance of picking the best players and the right players for the job. - Every player selected for our squads should have video footage/match-highlights of their ability. The back 4 is a must. They invented it. It's what to do with the other 6 spots that is tricky. I'm leaning classic 4-4-2, as Pele and Ronaldo are auto includes, even if that means leaving out Ronaldinho.
will be the first one to bite the bullet Ederson Djalma Aldair T.Silva Marcelo G.Silva Falcao Clodoaldo Garrincha Pele Fenomeno I rate Cafu as probably best fullback ever but considering partnership and quality of both Djalma and Garrincha i had to opt for them + with a more defensive minded fullback Falcao will have more of the ball as well which is handy. Gilberto got the nod ahead of Dunga as he was more reserved and simple on the ball. Fenomeno in the free role. 12. Mozer - almost made it in the first XI 13. Lucio 14. Alisson 15. Fernandinho 16. Cerezo 17. Cafu 18. Nilton 19. Socrates This part is where it gets tricky, which ones would accept the bench? 20. Tostao 21. Jairzinho 22. Zagallo 23. **** it, Zico
My All Time Brazil XI:- Ronaldo - Pelé Rivellino - Falcão - M. Silva - Garrincha Nílton - Aldair - T. Silva - Cafu Alisson Pelé and Garrincha pick for themselves. Even Falcão as well. Didi was a better playmaker but in this system, Falcão suits a lot more. The left sided attacker was the toughest. Ronaldinho was a better player than Rivellino but considering the formation Rivellino's work-rate and him being a natural left footed player was better for the balance. Romário was amazing but Ronaldo at his peak was better. Tough to leave Zico out who has a case for being the 2nd greatest Brazilian ever but with Pelé there already, a pure striker like Ronaldo suits the team more. The DM spot is tricky. There are better CMs than Mauro Silva in Cerezo and co, but Mauro was the best out and out defensive player out of all their DMs/CMs be it even Zito or Dunga etc. CBs is a weak spot for Brazil in the sense no real All-Time Great CBs for them but Thiago Silva is a modern great CB with as complete a defensive game as there could be and in Aldair, another really good CB he will pair well with. Now for the full backs. Roberto Carlos was a freak but Nílton just so much more all-rounded and still very good in terms of attacking ability from the LB spot. Cafu vs Djalma vs Carlos Alberto was extremely tough as all 3 are probably in Top-5 RBs of all time but Cafu imo was the best and his speed edges it for me because you need dudes in that Brazil defense who can cover a lot of ground. GK, Alisson is the best GK. Gilmar is there but he was not THAT great in terms of ability. Taffarel and Ederson are there but Alisson has the ability and the performances, and the goals () to tip it in his favour.
