http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/l/liverpool/9442542.stm Sponsors should be seen and not heard. Laws needs to shut his mouth to be honest.
Liverpool could do alot worse than that Lee lad at Bolton tbh. Does open up huge revenue streams though so he has a point.
Shocker that a sponsor wants us to sign a player in a continent that has commercial value If the right player was available then fair enough, but I wouldn't just sign an Asian to boost shirt sales in China, Korea and Japan. Of course if they'd like to cough up the transfer fee and wages for an Asian player then why not What next? Our sponsors wanting us to do Asian and American tours?
As long as we don't do a United and sign some Chinese lad who's conference standard, just for appearances.
Wouldn't matter IF we say "fine, we'll sign an Asian but YOU'RE PAYING. If they want He Du Suk from South Korea then fine, they pick up the costs. If we want Honda or someone who might be worthwhile then they still pick up the costs but we get someone worthwhile. Didn't Japanese journos follow Inamoto around when he was here (England not at Liverpool), even when he didn't play?
Quite, Dong was truly dreadful and clearly a marketing tool. Park's been okay though, never World Class or anything more than a reliable option with a great engine, but he's seldom let us down.
I'd rather not sign anyone for marketing reasons, but one or two would be okay if they were decent players and added to the squad.
I'm sure we'd all agree with that, but big business runs the game now. I'm sure that's why United are going to the USA for pre-season for the second year in a row. He who pays the piper . . .
And who was it bragging that we finally got ourselves up there with the big clubs in terms of sponsors..........................?
This kind of thing worries me. Are these people here for footballing success or bumping up the coffers?
If they're good enough then yeah cos their transfer fees will pay for themselves. Honda, Lee and Shinji Kagawa... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_M4I4U9lMY
he's amazing, Kenny get the kid in the academy NOW! That goal he scores on about 3.04 is astomishing, where he sort of back-heel flicks it over his and the goalies head.
