Town and Barnsley autos?! A crazy idea just a few weeks ago but now who knows. Think it will be very tight between all four sides until the end. That game at yours at the end of April could be very tasty.
It is a big game mate certainly, Conor Chaplin might have a say in proceedings, I liked Conor tbh and so did the fans at Oakwell. Glad he is doing well. Should be a good game, but who knows? When they are supposed to be classics they usually aren't. Plymouth could react in two ways to yesterday's Wembley disaster, but they wouldn't be up there if they weren't a good side. I think best policy for us and you is to quietly keep the pressure up on the two teams in the autos and see what happens. Could be another crazy last day of the regular season?
Personally I would like to see the back of both Sheff Weds & Ipswich both with big fan bases & far bigger finances than most in this league , I think Ipswich have signed three £1million + players this season & I can imagine some of Owls players ( Bannan etc... ) are on £10k a week wages & to get rid of Derby ( it won't happen ) via the play offs wouldn't be a bad thing for next season with probably Wigan , Blackpool + 1 other coming down & Orient & maybe Stevenage , Cobblers scum + 1 other coming up which will leave Charlton & Pompey as the 2 big guns in this division next season unless Bradford also get promoted , all Captain Hindsight stuff , loads of points to win & lose yet .
But if you ever did & The Valley was full every other week ( about 25k ) then the extra finance that could bring you lot would / could be a massive advantage . Think Bolton really look after their fans with ST at really low / competitive price similar with Bradford in the league below which may bring extra revenue in , can't be an hindrance that's for sure & yesterday's win at Wembley will attract some extra fair weather / once a year type fans to The Reebok ( or whatever it's now called )
Love Chappers, my favourite player atm. And our best in my opinion. Definitely the best finisher at the club anyway. Plymouth have come back from some defeats already this season, they will be tough to budge. Cracks starting to show perhaps like Wednesday. Bolton are a good side as well, maybe a year too soon but they will be a threat in the playoffs for anyone. Been a while since we had anything left to play for at the end of the season, I’m looking forward to it.
Ipswich-Barnsley is usually a very high scoring fixture, with the 4-2 opening day match in 2016, crazy 5-3 game at Oakwell which saved Paul Jewell's job and of course the playoff final. There are probably other examples I've forgotten too. With both teams' goal records, there's no reason why that won't be the case again, especially if one team needs the win more than the other with two matches to go and is willing to take more risks. Chaplin's a very well-liked figure at Town and Seems to have a good rapport with the supporters at all the club's he's played for - he applauded/was applauded by both the Barnsley and Portsmouth fans at Portman Road.
Ya think ! Why ? Plymouth and Ipswich already up. You collapsed, under the stewardship of Moore. Old legs allegedly
Not sure collapsed is the right word. The bar from a points tally is big this year and most seasons Wednesday would have achieved automatic promotion
Yeah we won the League One title in 92/93 with 93 points and Wednesday could still finish on 96. They're unlucky not to be at least second on that total. Even Barnsley's 86 is often good enough for second and even the title some years.
Ok just to qualify. They were 5 points in front and 2 games in hand of the chasing pack not too long ago. They’d gone 23 games unbeaten. So I suppose it’s relative. The radio phone-ins from Wednesday fans have been full of doom, gloom and Dazza Moore out. What’s compounded the misery for them is the success of United. Anyway how’s Didzy doing ? Personally never rated Hourihane.
Well the more their fans get on the backs the better chance we have of firstly qualifying for the play offs and then hopefully winning them. Tough ask though. didzy is quality in this league. Against the better defenders he hasn’t been as effective but that’s because we have no one else who can even get near his level so nullifying him is really all oppositions need to focus on Hourihane - his goals and assists shows a good contribution but allot of fans think he is a luxury player and needs to contribute more during the game other than set pieces.
I remember him for Villa in the Prem and he seemed to hide during games, he continued this with us despite the occasional good moment, eg his goal at QPR. Didzy’s goals record this season shows he’s been very effective. ps. I wish we’d have kept McGoldrick
My mate at work is a massive Blade, and he saids exactly the same as you, and without Mr Mcgoldrick, we would be nowhere near the play offs, he has been a pleasure to watch, hope he signs the 1 year contract on offer, whatever league we end up in, by far, our stand out player this season.
