Royale Union SG denied the Belgium title again due to a late goal from Toby Alderweireld for Antwerp! Their first title since 1957.
At a loss for words. Thought we threw it away last week, was sure Bruges wasn't going to put up a fight against Union given our history and both chairmen hating eachother. What a goal from Alderweireld, had to be him. Hats off to our chairman for having the balls to hire Overmars, without him we don't end up Van Bommel and our 4 dutch players who all had great seasons. What a season, perfect start, then our best player gets injured and we have noone left in midfield, struggle for a few games and suddenly we have a 17 and 20 year old in midfield running games as if they have been doing it for years. We never had a great academy but seeing 3 or 4 players from the academy playing in big games, taking a penalty in the cup final etc.
