So what is your fav hatchback of all time? 3 Clearly stand out for me and they would be 1. Golf GTi MK2 16v 2. Honda Civic Type R (01-06 Model) 3. Pug 205 GTi 1.9 Nothing beats the Golf for me as it was a decent all round car, Many people would put the Pug over it because of its more stylish looks. I was fortunate enough to own both in my time though (Golf + Pug) apart from the Golf i had was a 1.8 8v, All round though the Golf i thought was a much better car as it was light, reliable, fast and was built extremely well. Winner for me
I aint no Porsche hater I thought you would say something like the Fiat Yugo or something, Talking of Fiats did anyone like the old Fiat 500? They was supposed to be a much loved car, Hated them myself.
You implied thats porsches should be safe comfortable and spacious you killed a bit of porsche today How can you hate that ?? I cant hate fiats My entire family had ancient fiats so i grew with them Also id like to add to that list the renault megane sport Nice rounded car no vices also Solid pedigree also mentions for the Leons
Well my old man loves those Fiat 500's, He think's they look cute apperently I always remember one kid at school used to be picked up in one by his mum, And he had the piss taken out of him so much for it, He was a big lad too, So it was kinda funny watching him getting in to the back of it. But i see see why some people like them in a way, Bit like a VW Beetle... You either love it or hate...Personally out of the supermini's i liked the little Mini Coopers.
I think I like this car so much because its so much of a blokes car. Performance wise overall, i'd say either the MK2 golf, or the Type R civic, close however.
See this earlier Andu on a website, Some piccies of the new Fiat 500 Essesse and i must say it looks rather nice, The front of it is almost identical as the old one.
So we're actually talking hot hatches? Not just plain old hatchbacks. In that case the Escort Cossie or RS Turbo have to be in there. Leaders in their class at the time. What about the VW Corrado. Bit of a cult following
Used to love to RS Turbo's and my dad used to have one back in the day, early 90's, But just seemed to have gone off them now Also was very low and when driven you would always come unstuck at the road bumps and take half of your exhaust off The Escort Cosworth i love, Another all time great and i would think will always be looked at, at being a great car, Think thats why i have gone off the RS Turbo simply because the Cosworth was the one to have out of the 2, Top motor though. The Corrado is great and is good all rounder i suppose, And a wide range of engine's, 1.8 8v, 1.8 16v,1.8 Supercharged 2.0 8v, 2.0 16v and of the 2.8 VR6 But in 15-20 years time i dont think people will still look at them for being what they are today, Good car though.
Some of today's designs are horrid though. The Megane Sport is a feckin mutant of a car. The new Astra isn't much of a looker either
I like the new look of the new Fiat 500's but problem is it's Fiat and when you come to get a new car it'll be worth about 50 pence. Honda Civic Type R. They have had the new ones on Top Gear today and the Civic is 1 second quicker round the track.
Alot of people say that, And from memory looking at the performance stats there isn't much in it between the 2. Great little cars though, Here's some pics.
Beeeeyootiful - the perfect demonstration of the old adage - "If it looks right, it probably is". 96,000 miles in 3 years on my 1.6 - never bested by any other hot hatch, and I 'raced' a fair few.
