Do a trolley tour on the day you atrive to get a good look at the city. It is a small city so everything is walkable. Walk the Freedom Trail. This is a great history tour, and a lot of the tourist sites are on it. Tea Party Museum - great fun Boston Common and Boston Public Garden - two of the nicest parks I have been to Newberry Street - best shopping Fenway Park - a nice baseball stadium. It's worth going to a game here. Ideally at night, as Boston can be quieter in the evenings. USS Constitution - Old battleship. Bunker Hill is just up the road as well. Museum of Fine Arts - Huge museum Robert Gold Shaw and the 54th Monument - if you have seen the film Glory, it is based on these guys.
All good shouts above. I’d recommend the north end for eating. You probably can’t go wrong with the lobster anywhere in the city
Echo all the above. Can recommend the JFK museum if that interests you, there’s a subway station and a bus that takes you there. Very interesting and interactive. Didn’t do it (for obvious reasons) but the Sam Adams Brewery is supposed to be good too. North End is a great shout for eating. If you’re into Seafood, I can recommend Rowes Wharf Sea Grille. Enjoy mate, lovely city x
Rowe's Wharf was great. We stayed just around the corner in the Langham which was surrounded by great pubs. The restaurant in the hotel was good fare as well.
Agreed, the Halibut was stunning and they had a decent live Sinatra tribute playing outside. Stayed at the InterContinental so walking distance, too. Would happily go back to Boston
Apologies for hijacking the thread but how easy is it to get from Boston to Cape Cod/Martha's Vineyard without a car? I've always wanted to visit both and was hoping to combine the two.
Cape Cod is easy. You can train, bus or a ferry that leaves from Boston. Martha's Vineyard requires a different ferry over, plus a bus or train to get to the ferry
Love Boston. Can’t add anything more to the excellent post by @PorkchopExpress other then to say enjoy..
Sorry everyone, I went and did a lot of the suggestions on this thread. Thank you all for your recommendations
Loved Boston especially the clam chowder which is delicious. Unless I’m getting my cities mixed up there’s a fantastic indoor food market which is well worth a visit. Lovely time of year to go as the fall is currently occurring. Enjoy.
