Yeah, I know a bit early to open the new Bundesliga Season thread but in 1 week, June 29th,the DFL will publish the new fixtures DFL veröffentlicht Spielpläne der Bundesliga und 2. Liga am 29. Juni for the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga. The 1st Bundesliga starts on August 18th (a Friday) and the 2nd Bundesliga already 3 weeks earlier on July 28th. The Champion Bayern Munich will (traditionally ) open the season with a home match. Fingers crossed that the first opponent won't be the HSV. Would be the worst case scenario to get hammered (again) right from the start P.S @Andy-gers1 : Could you sticky this thread and "unsticky" the 2016-2017 season thread? Thanks in advance
Better every day. HSV Transfers so far: Out: - René Adler (to Mainz 05). Former Germany Goalie left Hamburg after 5 years to see if he can join a club where he doesn't have to fight relegation every season (ok, it was only 4 of his 5 seasons). First he said he wants to wait but now it seems he joins Mainz 05 (who were even worse than HSV last season in the end ). Anyway, although I like Rene Adler he wasn't error-free and HSV had with Christian Mathenia who played in 14 matches for the injured Adler a good alternative - Matthias Ostrzolek (to Hannover 96). Bye...(don't have much to say about him. Now he plays for the (little) HSV instead of the big HSV ) - Johan Djourou (to ???) , always whining because Coach Gisdol made another one the team captain. - Emir Spahic (to ???? ). Thank God that this chaotic player is gone now. In: - Julian Pollersbeck (from Kaiserslautern): Goalie, plays actually with Germany's U21 Euro in Poland. First match wasn't so good but in the 2nd against Denmark he was great. No Goals allowed so far. One for the future - Kyriakos Papadopoulos (Papa): Came on loan from Leverkusen (and RB Leipzig) in the winter break and is now bought for €6.5m (could be up to 10m due to some special arrangements) That's it so far. Some rumours but nothing is final now. Actually that won't get us out of trouble next season.....
Congratulations to Bundestrainer Joachim Löw for winning for the100th time in his 150th match today (3-1 against Cameroon in the Confed Cup) Nice one, Jogi. So Germany wins 2/3 of the matches under him. His stats: 150 Matches : 100 Wins - 27 Draws - 23 Losses ----------------------------------------------------------------- Competition Matches (WC, Euro, Confed Cup, Qualifier): 92 Matches: 72 Wins - 11 Draws - 9 Losses Friendly Matches: 58 Matches: 28 Wins - 16 Draws - 14 Losses Germany loses only approx. 10% of the Competition matches but nearly 25% of the meaningless friendlies
btw: SC Freiburg had the most players in our U21 Team that just won the U21 Euro in Poland. Excellent youth development there The DFL just scheduled the 2017/18 Bundesliga Season. The 55th Bundesliga Season will start with the match between Bayern vs Bayer on Friday 18th August: FC Bayern München - Bayer 04 Leverkusen TSG 1899 Hoffenheim - Werder Bremen Hertha BSC Berlin - VfB Stuttgart SC Freiburg - Eintracht Frankfurt Borussia Mönchengladbach - 1.FC Köln Schalke 04 - RB Leipzig Hamburger SV - FC Augsburg 1. FSV Mainz 05 - Hannover 96 VfL Wolfsburg - Borussia Dortmund HSV with a home match. Thank God (although last season we began also with a home match (1-1 against later relegated Ingolstadt) and that was a season I don't want to have again (2 points from the first 10 matches)
Any hope for Hamburg then this year Dirk? they have been hanging on for years now in the top league, what's the issue there?
Where there's life there's hope . I think that's something for a doctoral thesis and I have only an engineers degree so I can't help you here
RB Leipzig seems to get french U-20 international Jean-Kevin Augustin from PSG for approx. 13m Euro. He's making his medical check and when everything is okay he'll get a 5 year contract. The Saxons already have 3 players in their team with "french league experience" in Naby Keita, Dayot Upamecano and Konaté btw: 999th post "Schnaps-Zahl" (repdigit?)
Oh shit, Bayern got James Rodriguez from Real Madrid. 2 year loan with an option to buy him. That's a good deal for Bayern (and no good news for the others ) The "Anthony Modeste" Saga at Cologne is going on and on. First it was said he'll be on his way to China (Modeste even flew to China but later said he doesn't want to play in China and never said he wanted to leave Cologne. Then suddenly it was said that Modeste cancelled the deal because of a "penalty tax" he could have to pay to Cologne and Cologne made their training camp in Austria without Modeste. Now Modeste applies for a restraining order to go into the training camp....... Kölle Alaaf....(Carneval)
Modeste has joins the Chinese club now. Cologne's Anthony Modeste agrees move to Chinese Super League Think the club could have got a better fee outright rather than risking it on a 2 year loan deal and the player a club in Europe but guess no-one was interested. And money talks I guess.
Philipp Lahm is Germany's Fooballer of the year 2016/2017 and successor of Jerome Boateng. Lahm was 2nd in 2004 and 3rd in 2006. Deserved trophy now after he retired. Women's player of the year is, of course, Dzsenifer Maroszan. Captain of our women's team and won the triple in France with Olympique Lyon Coach of the year is Julian Nagelsmann who brought Hoffenheim at the top and for the first time into the Champions League:
At last: Tomorrow the 2nd Bundesliga kicks off with the Friday match VfL Bochum vs St. Pauli St.Pauli has a new Coach, Olaf Janßen, former Bundesliga Player ( 1985-1996 FC Köln (229 games/16 goals), 1996-2000 Eintracht Frankfurt (50/3). Was once a great talent and played in most youth national teams for Germany but never for the Adult team). I am curious about it to see if he can replace "cult-coach" Ewald Lienen.
Bundesliga only starts in 13 Days but 2nd Bundesliga is already running and today we have the "German Super Cup" Match between Champion Bayern and Cup Winner Dortmund. Bayern "a bit" under pressure. They've lost 5 of their 6 big friendly matches. Although it's not the most wanted trophy for you to win in a season I think they want to show a reaction now. Unfortunately James is out for weeks after being injured in the Liverpool match. I really wanted to see him in the first competitive match of the season. I am really excited to see Dortmund under new coach Peter Bosz (former Ajax coach) and Mario Götze who was out for months because of metabolic disorder. But it seems that he has no some back problems? Marco Reus still out for months (but that's nothing new, unfortunately) Let's see....
Tomorrow we'll see the first match of this years DFB Cup, so competition football starts in Germany, too. HSV will play on Sunday at VfL Osnabrück. Although the VfL is actually only in the 3rd Liga (in their glory days they were a regular in the 2nd Bundesliga), matches at the Bremer Brücke Stadium are always hard for any away team Here are all 32 matches of the 1st round (in brackets is the actual league of the club, with I for Bundesliga, II for 2.Bundesliga, III for 3.Liga and IV for Regionalliga, V for Oberliga, VI for Verbands-/Landesliga) 11.08.2017, 19:00 Uhr TuS Koblenz (IV) Dynamo Dresden (II) 11.08.2017, 20:45 Uhr Rot-Weiss Essen (IV) Borussia Mönchengladbach (I) 11.08.2017, 20:45 Uhr Karlsruher SC (III) Bayer 04 Leverkusen (I) 11.08.2017, 20:45 Uhr Holstein Kiel (II) Eintracht Braunschweig (II) 12.08.2017, 15:30 Uhr VfB Germania Halberstadt (IV) SC Freiburg (I) 12.08.2017, 15:30 Uhr Chemnitzer FC (III) FC Bayern München (I) 12.08.2017, 15:30 Uhr Lüneburger SK Hansa (IV) 1. So far, all Bundesliga teams advanced to the next round of the Cup. All? Nah, i think you already know what comes next: HSV is 0-2 down actually at 3rd Liga Club VfL Osnabrück. To make this even worse, the Lower Saxonians are playing shorthanded since the 19th minute (and scored 2 goals since then). FFS! edit: 3-0 I can't take anymore of this crap. 3-1 now, penalty (what else)
Tomorrow the 55th season starts. "Traditionally" the Champion opens it. Bayern looks for the 6th opening win in a row, which would match Kaiserslauterns starting record from 1989-1994. And if you look at the opponent, Bayer Leverkusen, this should be more than possible because Leverkusens record at Munich in the last 25years is abysmal (1Win-3Draws-21Losses) plus they lost Toprak (to Dortmund), Calhanoglu (AC Milan) and Chicharito (West Ham). Interesting to watch is Schalke 04 vs RB Leipzig. Schalke with a new coach, one of the "wild young ones" Domenico Tedesco who made the best coaches exam in Germany (was in the same class as Hoffenheims Julian Nagelsmann). First match was a 2-0 away win in the Cup against former East German Stasi club (and serial killer (champion) in the GDR) Dynamo Berlin (now a 4th division club) with both goals from "new goalgetter" Konoplyanka, who didn't make it under former Coach Weinzierl. The only 2 Bundesliga clubs who lost their Cup matches, HSV and Augsburg, are playing against each other. HSV better win this thing otherwise we would already have to endure the same shitstorm from the big papers in Hamburg right from the beginning again. Yours truly will be amongst the 55.000, as always 1st matchday: Bayern München - Bayer Leverkusen (Friday) Saturday, 19. 8.2017 - Sunday, 20.8.2017 1899 Hoffenheim - Werder Bremen Hertha BSC - VfB Stuttgart SC Freiburg - Eintracht Frankfurt Borussia Mönchengladbach - 1. FC Köln Schalke 04 - RB Leipzig Hamburger SV - FC Augsburg FSV Mainz 05 - Hannover 96 VfL Wolfsburg - Borussia Dortmund
Entertaining first game I thought. Bayern unsurprisingly won it and probably deservedly so but both created chances and it was a relatively open game. I'll have to try watch a bit more Bundesliga football this season, hopefully get back to Germany for a game at some point too.
