Looking forward to this game,i think Villa could be the hardest test we will have had so far this season, they have pace, power and a manager that will have them motivated for this game. But i can see us getting somthing out of this game, after our great result against City i think the lads will be confident going into this fixture and will look to hit Villa early on in the match. And with nearly all Villa's squad being away on international duty they may not be as fresh and could have some added injury worries by the time this game comes round. Turf Moor will be rocking come the 21st so lets hope the lads deliver, im going 2-1 Clarets win
This will not be an easy game, still one i'd be hoping to win though! I'm going to reverse your scoreline, 2-1 to Villa!
I know they've got some quality players but i think how we handle big John Carew could mean the difference between a win and defeat. For me he's a very underated player. Remeber seeing Ashley Young play against us in his Watford days and said to my pal back then he's a premiership player. Will he be up agains Tyrone Mears? If he is it will be a very good battle. Think i'll go for a 2-1
I'd probably go for Villa in this game. Burnley have impressed at home but I still think Young and Gabby will be too much for Burnley. 1-3.
Big game and and a tough one at that....We could be exposed by their pace but I'm anticipating a great atmosphere and a tight game, hoping to nick this one 1-0 or 2-1....
It was a game of two halves and in the end I think a point was a fair result, was just disappointing to hold a lead for so long and lose it in the last 5 minutes.
Thought we played quite well yesterday first half we should have put the game away tbh. Villa did nothing closest they come to scoring was when our keeper come flying out of his goal slipped or tried doing a slide tackle and Ashley Young fired over the top. Apart from that we had the rest of the game. Even though Villa stepped up second half we still created some good chances and big Brad in the Villa goal pulled off a good save from that Fletcher shot that was heading for the top corner. I was impressed by Fletcher again yesterday, lead the line really well his touch could have been a little better at times but his workrate and bringing others into play was spot on. Dont know how Robbie Blake got MOTM Fletch did better than him i though Bikey did alright too. I'm not doubting Villa are a good side but tbh i wasnt impressed by them at all yesterday, dont know if it was just a one off or something but they dont seem to have a style of play, just seem to get it forward as quick as possible and go from there and in the main it didnt work. The players who i expected to cause us big problems did very little overall. I lost count the number of ball Ashley Young overhit. Fair play to the Villa fans for filling the away end. Something your chums Birmingham couldn't do or be bothered doing Gutted that we didnt get all 3 but a points better than nowt. Two away games on the trot for us now just hope we can pick a win up out of one of them at least. Westham away & Portsmouth away.
Personally I thought Grezza was MOTM yesterday, it's one of the best games he's had in a Burnley shirt IMO.
Think Wade Elliott got told to sit back or something yesterday, normally he's breaking over the halfway line every chance he gets, only saw him do it a couple of times yesterday if that. if it makes us more solid though i'm all for it. That bending shot from Bikey would have been in too had it been on target it went like a rocket!
We were shit yesterday, and to be honest, you lot deserved to win it. Our man of the match was bloody Friedel! We've been shite for a while now (excluding the Bolton game ) though, but have still been grinding out results/points. You lot should be embarrassed though... Letting Heskey score? Seriously? Young was shit, as he has been most of the season, Milner had a kak game too, although he never kept on trying, and credit to him, he got the assist in the end. Good to see Downing finally get some time on the pitch for us too, he looked dangerous and seemed to revamp us when he came on. Dunne looked slightly shaky today too, bit demoralised from Ireland's result I'd assume though. All in all, we scrapped a draw that we didn't deserve, one player deserved that from Villa, and that player is Friedel.
