Looking to get a new car.

Not too fussed whether it's new/used.

Got a max of about £5k to spend.

Must be a 5-door, preferably a decent sized boot (although not a massive car), petrol (cheaper) and one that's not going to murder me in insurance.

    Any suggestions?

It's not going to be new for £5,000? Stick with the usual suspects, Focus, Golf, Astra, 307, Megane etc. etc. etc. and you won't go far wrong.

For 5k and used, search for new Corsa, Focus zetech, and generally common manufacturers and cars... you should find something on AutoTrader.

Just had a look at Vauxhall's new 0% APR offer for up to 5 years.

Considering the new Special Edition 1.3l 5 door Corsa
Costs 16k. Could have it on interest free finance, if I stump a 3k upfront (could be as soon as next month), I pay £214 a month for 60 months.
Insurance would hit me at roughly £150 a month on top though because of my 3 points, despite 3+ years driving.

£360-370 odd a month exc. petrol though sounds like it might cripple me.
COULD afford it but it's a massive chunk, probably looking at at least 50% of my wages per month (inc petrol) on the car.

Wouldn't have a corsa given. always found them to be a proper pile of shit. Had about 7 or 8 hire cars for work Corsa's of different engines and owned two before.

For every nightmare story about a make of motor though there will be people telling you there very dependable
