http://www.chelseafc.com/page/LatestNews/0,,10268~2752630,00.html Not sure for how much yet. But have seen between £6.5M-£10M being mentioned with Lukaku going on loan for next season. Seems like a great deal for us. He's a German international (so will be useful for any penalty shoot-outs), and will give us some pace and flair on the wings. Can play either side, but usually the left and is good with both feet (think naturally right footed though). Even if he is just a squad player, the 23 year old is just the type of players we need to start signing. Better then what we currently have on the wings (other than Mata who seems more central these days)!!
Great player, abit slow though. I was hoping we'd sign pacey wingers but he's only 23 and he is creative . It's nice to see us signing a great player for cheap for a change lol
French media were linking us with a move for Hazard with De Bruyne going on loan next season. Kalou and Malouda leaving this summer by looks of it and we only have Sturridge, Ramires and Mata who can play on the wings. None of who look like natural wingers. Marin looks like Mata will definitely play more central next year. Sturridge isn't even selected anymore (so wouldn't be surprised to see him move on for right fee) and Ramires is used in the same way as Park was for United - played there when we need a more defensive winger to defend against a player like Bale.
I wouldn't say he was slow. Slow compared to Walcott, Robben etc. but quicker than Mata I thought?? He's more of an explosively quick player I got the impression of. Wouldn't say he was any slower than Hazard.
Yeah h is quicker than Mata but I was hoping for someone like you said, a Robben or Sanchez. Hopefully there will be more signing to come. If we already made a signing this early then you know there will be big changes this summer.
Decent enough signing I think he's pretty good Problem is if we lose Drogba, Kalou and a few other guys on frees we need players just to make up the places let alone improve on it

I'm excited to see him play already, I think he'll be a huge player for us. Chelsea is heading in the right direction after signing Mata + Marin. Hulk would be nice but I think we are looking for bargains so maybe Willian will join us if they will accept 10m or something like that. I know this is FMesque but Cech Ivanovic Terry Luiz Cole Mikel Romeu Hulk/Willian Mata Marin Torres Very exciting line up.
I think they want like 16m for Willian. Hulk would be a nice signing but he is overpriced. This is a very good signing and I believe he's had attention from United as well. We can't forget to include De Bruyne in that lineup if we don't loan him or Lukaku out. Regardless even if Marin isn't a starter he will definetly be seeing a decent amount of time with Malouda and Kalou gone. I wonder who made this signing. I'm sure it was Abromovich, but it does make you wonder.
Hi mate, got your pm, cheers. Yes, I've just heard about this. I've been at work today and called in my local for a couple and saw it on German Sky sports news. I'm very surprised tbh. He's a reasonable attacking midfielder but he is not imo anything more than a squad player at the very top level. I've seen plenty of him and he is decent but I've seen nothing that makes me think he will reach top status, still, he is only young and who knows ?
Thanks mate. Did think a £7M transfer fee was a bit low for someone we want to be a key player. Seems it's more likely he's been signed to be a squad player, which I imagined he'd be better than Malouda so a good signing still. Is he the type of player who will put a defensive shift on the wing too if needed? What we really miss at Chelsea are 'team players' who are willing to put effort in for the team and not just themselves. Hopefully Lukaku gets some good experience out of the loan deal too. Needs games though.
Are we loaning Lukaku to them as part of the deal?? Anyways who knows maybe he will become a starter and has time to grow as a young player, but at the least he's a good solid young backup to replace Malouda and Kalou. Does anyone know if he would just be put out on the wing or would he come in the middle as well?
Zippy's post made me think that he would be a squad player, nothing more. But I'm hoping Marin proves everyone wrong and end up becoming a key player for us, he's exceptional at dribbling and we don't have many dribblers really. Sturridge stands out for me because he's always willing to take on players. Kalou does it as well but he always failed. Mata, well he's more into passing than taking on players, I can't even remember much of him taking on players. I want to see players who will take on players and beat them easily everytime, didn't have that at Chelsea since Robben and Joe Cole.
http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11668/7716554/Di-Matteo-Marin-not-my-call Think the club made this signing, or our next manager recommended him??
Do we really need another squad player? Like zippy says he is no more than an average squad player. We signed Zirkov and let him go he was a squad player, Beniyoun(SP) is on loan to Arsenal another squad player i class Miereles as a squad player. Kevin De Bruyne is going to be a squad player. Romeu is young but is still a squad player, we need an attacking left sided player in the Ajen Robbin mould. not more average squad players. If we keep siging average players we will be an average team
Let's wait and see how good he is when he comes to the Premier league. I read somewhere that Werder Bremen has been stalling his growth because he was being played in a wrong position, which we can be thankful for tbh because that made his transfer value lower. I still think he'll be a class player, maybe even as good as Robben was for Chelsea.
