Anyone know how much it is to replace one ?

I'm nearly sure it's the coil pipe that needs replacing as the car is jumping when I slow down and the power steering is not as good as it should be. The warning engine light only came up this evening but I've noticed these flaws the last couple of weeks :hmmm

Could be anything causing the misfire. You're probably right to suspect the electrics but I wouldn't spend a load of money without getting it properly diagnosed, painful as that can be. Local (non-dealer) garages will often hook your motor up to their diagnostics for 20 or 30 quid, a third of what the main dealers would charge?

I thought a coil pipe was used for abortions...and was instantly confused.

I'd have posted it in the blog section if that's what I meant.

Is it a VAG car? Possibly a SEAT Leon?

A Ford Focus. Got it sorted this morning, cost 100. It was the coil pack.

Not too bad then, albeit a month before Christmas?

Tell me about it, I was waiting on him to come out and tell me "well we are going to have to keep your car in for a while to repair it".

I think I know what is wrong with your car mate.

Its a common problem with alot of Ford Focus' and Ford Fiesta's.

Its a problem with the washer jets, they arent fitted properly, they havent got a proper seal, and therefore they allow water through. During times of heavy rain, or say in novemeber after a dry summer, water gets in the engine bay and into and onto the spark plugs, leads and coil pack. Causing the car to mis fire and lose power.

Basically what you need to do is, take the spark plugs out, leads off etc, give the whole area a dry out, and there may now be some rust where the plugs go. You properly have to replace the coil pack but this shouldnt be too expensive. And you car should be back to normaly.

However next year, or come another rainy season, it will happen again. The best thing to do it put polyfiller or something similar underneath the washer jets, to provide a seal, and stop water leaking through. I had similar problems every year for 3 years, have since filled underneath the jets and touched wooud havent had the problem for the last 3.

If you want you can get your washer jets replaced, I think they kit is 50 quid or so. If you google "washer jets problem ford focus" you'll find its an extremely common problem and loads of info out there.

Anyway hope you see this, and it helps.

That's exactly what was wrong mate, we had heavy rain and floods about a month ago and the mechanic said that was what led to the trouble.
Next year the motor will be gone though for something else.

Sounds to me like this should be a manufacturer's recall, it's a design fault and they should fix it at their expense.
