Couldn't watch the game but bad one for French football. The 1st leg showed that Marseille had better players in terms of quality and they really should have scored a couple more against such a team (no disrespect to them intended). Some highlights show Marseille being truly awful in front of goal though so well done Feyenoord, should paint Tirana red.
Looking forward to this, two very capable teams. Best defence vs best attack, top scorers of the tournament on either side, and of course a new trophy for whomever wins. Think it'll be an entertaining game.
Drab start but livened up a bit now. Brilliant finish from Zaniolo. Mourinho team 1-0 up in a European final, usually only goes one way from here.
Bloody Jose eh...thought Roma got outplayed for most of that but defended well albeit Feyenoord looked like they forgot how to score.
Mourinho joins Trapattoni in the five European honour club. Don Unai Emery is in this cup next year so he may join them
Feyenoord didn't make enough of their dominance on the ball, and Roma got their goal when the chance came. Calm and composed throughout and defence and goalkeeper were excellent. Aggregate of 11-2 in Mourinho's five European finals now, he sure does know how to win them!
Quite pleased for Jose. Nice for this competition too that it was a good final with two decent names in Europe. Dread to imagine the scenes in Tirana tonight. Can't imagine either set of supporters would take defeat well, could be a fair bit of trouble in the city.
I didn't really watch the first half, had it on but only half-watching. I thought the second half was decent enough though. Competitive maybe the better word, Feyenoord certainly lacked the quality in the final third but it was a good enough watch as finals go. Well, I thought so anyway.
First half was a bore with Zaniolo the only spark. He really is the only reason why this game didn't finish goalless. I don't think any other player on the pitch would have had the speed with which he controlled the ball and put it past the keeper. After that, huge Feyenoord pressure and some superb saves by Patricio (the one where he tips it onto the bar/post is very good) but Roma held firm with a very good game from their back 3 (Smalling particularly heroic). The Feyenoord keeper in constrast was rather underworked I felt (just a couple of saves). Reckon Mou got lucky tactically though. Mkhitaryian getting injured was a blessing in disguise as he was being played out of position as a central midfielder next to the very good Cristante in a 3412 and Oliveira was a much better fit which made Roma more balanced. Subbing Zaniolo (player with the most quality by a considerable distance last night) so early by Veretout (who did well coming on, no idea what Mou has against him) was risky and you could tell Roma were physically drenched. Feyenoord could have kept going for the extra half-hour but Roma? No chance. A Feyenoord equaliser would probably have meant defeat for Roma (Karsdorp was subbed late on knackered). Otherwise, glad Spinazzola is getting game action (didn't a daft English pundit say something about him being an everpresent in Roma's European campaign when this was one of his first games since that bad injury at Euro 2021?). Congratulations Roma. I like the club so happy for them.
