UY Scuti is the biggest known star to us. To put into perspective as to how massive this star is, here are some fun facts... If you were to fly around the Earth's equator in a plane it would take around 1.8 days. At this rate it would take around 205 days to fly around our sun. To fly around UY Scuti at the same speed, it would take around 1086 years. Light can travel around the Earth 7 times in 1 second but it would take light 7.7 hours to travel around UY Scuti just once. Pretty ****ing cool stuff. Feel free to add your own amazing facts about our universe.
We know all this apparantley but yet no-one, not even NASA are yet to show the whole globe spinning........not even a picture of the earth as a globe in full with it being cgi'd.
Venus is the only planet in our solar system that rotates backwards. If you look at the stars in the sky at night you are actually looking into the past. A year on Earth is actually 365.2 days, that’s why every four years we get an extra day in Feb. Maybe not cool not confirmed facts to everyone but I like them.
Both Uranus and Venus spin clockwise (the rest spin anti-clockwise) but Uranus was "knocked on its side" as well by the impact that reversed its spin. However, I can't work out whether it's a top spinner or an under spinner. Can anyone help? We got fantastic views of Venus near the crescent moon on our drive across Northamponshire and Warwickshire last night.
An estimated 25 million meteoroids, micrometeoroids and other space debris enter Earth's atmosphere each day, which results in an estimated 15,000 tonnes of that material entering the atmosphere each year. See shooting stars every few weeks with the lack of artificial light here. Unfortunately its over all too briefly.
HariboAlan is correct you forgot about Uranus. Which coincidentally is what you are talking out of with this 'fact' x
Every 365.25 days - I missed a 5 off Mr Pedantic. Blame the National Space Centre, we took the kids and that was one of the facts they told us. They lied. I’m disgusted.
