Michael Dawson famously dubbed "the English Beckenbauer" by our very own superyids has sadly (sort of) left Tottenham Hotspur.

Dawson gave everything when he pulled on a Spurs shirt, probably one of the most committed and dedicated individuals I've seen play for us. 110% effort wasn't enough. Even when AVB decided he was free to leave Dawson fought (and won I'll add!) for his position.

I'm looking forward to his return to the Lane and giving the great man the reception he deserves. Best of luck Dawson!

Dawson highlights? Favourite moments? He was absolutely instrumental in the season we first finished 4th, even made Bassong look half decent. It's sad he didn't get a proper crack at the Champions League because of injuries.

Sad to see him go albeit I completely agree with the decision to sell him.

gutted to see him leave. great pro, great captain and a loveable guy. seems his best days are behind him. i'm quite curios what the pricetag was? I've only heard the old "undisclosed" phrase so far.

    GOODBYE TO THE ENGLISH BECKENBAUER

Probably best for both him and us. Sadly enough not good enough anymore and a player with that attitude deserves to play. So good luck to him, should be a solid signing for Hull.

Great signing for Hull City Hotspur. He'll do well there for them.

seems somewhere between 4-6M was the price for him.

I think we've pretty much recouped what we've spent this summer... once again

'The English Beckenbauer' has officially retired and will become a club ambassador for us - great to see Dawson return to the club.

Really played his part in putting Spurs back on the map, instrumental in us qualifying for the CL in 09/10 and also played his part in us winning our last trophy.

A shame he's gone back to you as I was hoping he'd stay on in some capacity. But good luck Daws and happy retirement

Saw him in Manchester airport around 4 years ago. He got on a flight to Lanzarote. I went to Tenerife.

He also bought his wife an issue of heat magazine from WH Smith’s. Not sure if he bought his kid anything.

If I’m honest he probably remembers the experience better than I do.
