"Come and have a look what you could have won" is probably one of the cruelest things you can say to a contestant..

 

It was either a caravan or speed boat. Not much use is a speed boat unless you are James Bond racing down the Thames.

 

Always puzzled me that, how on earth did two players share half those prizes

 

sell em.

 

Was well known that drinkers down the pub would be approached and the guy would go " hey mate do ya wanna buy a fitted kitchen ?"

Loads of kitchens and speed boats were being flogged this way.

Honest.

 

Yeah the pub was the best place to sell stuff.

 

Amazing how many portable televisions, video recorders, record players and Sony Walkmans were on sale down the Dog and Duck years ago.

Remember that song well.

 

I saw them at Reading in 1983 they were brilliant,it's another musician from my youth that has died.

 

A sad day. My copy of his live album, Face To Face, was literally worn through I played it so much. One of the few great wordsmiths of our generation..

 

Last surviving member of The Dambusters has died just short of his 101st birthday.

RIP George Johnson. Well earned rest sir.
