The kitchen gadget du jour isn’t it?
I’ve just ordered the 8.5ltr Tower Instant Vortex large single draw dual zone model to replace our smaller version of the same model.
There’s nothing wrong with the one we currently have but I want to do more and it’s not big enough.
It gets so much use and the current one replaces the use of the oven and grill in 80% of meals so I think the new one will pretty much make the bottom part of the range obsolete.
The old one will be going on the local basefook group as free to a deserving home rather than off to the tip so it can feed another family :)

    yes, it's fine.

they love it cos they can do all the bad food groups in it.

I do not really believe a lot of people are doing haute cuisine in them but hey. it's cheap to run and it's quick.

so yeah unless you are making Yorkshire puds from scratch you can do a lot of things with one to compliment the roast dinner that's in the slow cooker beside it.

Yes we have a Ninja double drawer fryer. We love it. We had a Tower one drawer air fryer before and advertised it for free on the market place and a young man collected it and I was chuffed I done a good turn as it was clear he was in need

That's the one I've got. I bought it on impulse as it was on sale, reduced from like £260 to £150 during an Amazon sale.
When it arrived I thought I'd made a terrible mistake as it was huge and I thought I'd never use it, but maybe could sell it on for a profit as it had been so heavily reduced.
Tried it out once and it genuinely cooks better than my oven does. I now use it far more than I use my oven.

Our oven broke down about four weeks ago and my sister suggested getting an Air fryer. We've had the oven fixed now but it's been sitting idle since the Ninja moved in.

Yes, been air frying for years and halogen ovens, both far more convenient, better and cheaper to run.

Have a Ninja Multi cooker that does the lot, air fry, bake, saute, steam, pressure cooker, etc

Had no choice as when we moved into this house, a lot of work needed doing on the kitchen which included all the units ripped out and seeing as though the new oven and hob were built in we didnt bother putting the cooker in, just used a mixture of air fryer, halogen and a 2 ring induction hob. Now we have the kitchen sorted, we pretty much use the Ninja, air frier and Halogen more than the cooker.

You'd be surprised what you can cook in them mate, especially if you get the Ninja multicookers.

These are absolute god sends, you can cook pretty much anything in them.

Yeah we’ve got the ninja double air fryer too and it’s probably the best kitchen appliance I’ve ever bought, hardly ever use the oven any more apart from if I’m making pizzas.
It’s made cooking so much easier a medium chicken upside down on air fry for exactly an hour cooks perfect every time.

Bought The Tower ( twin tray ) from Tesco about 9 months ago and def the best item bought for the kitchen in ages. The speed in which it cooks things has resulted in the oven rarely being used.

So far, the best thing we have cooked on our air fryer is roast pork. A small joint does in around 50 minutes and the crackling is way better than we could ever do in the oven

doing chips right now in air fryer but the chicken is paprika, salt and olive oil and wrapped in the big oven?, going to be burgers.

onions amd mushrooms on thr pan covered.

the airfryer doesnt have the capacity. the smaller dual ones have no capacity.

I like our big tower unit but it's one container.

That's ultimately why we've replaced ours - the tower draw capacity just wasn't big enough. The new one has one really big draw with a separator panel if you want it to be 2 smaller draws for different timings / cooking methods etc

By the way, if you haven’t already tried it, it makes the best pork crackling ever..

We've got two. We had a small one which was handy for little bits, but we're a family of 6 so we need a bigger one. My 17 year old then bought us a bigger one for Christmas and my wife uses it for pretty much everything.

I do the roast in the oven still, but that, pizza and ribs are about all it's used for now. My wife would use it for everything given a chance.

I've had a Ninja dual zone for a year. I bought it because you can sync the times up in both 'zones' to finish at the same time, Set it and forget it, and go and watch some tv. Always feel like I'm wasting my time watching over cooking, winds me up. Cheaper to run than an oven, and quicker.
Mother Theresa had nothing on you 2! ;)

So whoever gets the airfryer will eat it.

    Very kind of you BTW.

What about the cleaning of these? I have to say that is the major thing that puts me off with some types of cooking.

If you do a roast joint or chicken or whatever don't you end up with piles of grease/fat to clean?

I have one, but very rarely use it. Probably need packaging on food to tell me who long to air fry for.

What's the general rule of thumb; same temp as you would in the oven? Take off 20% of cooking time? Pretty much only use it for chips, which is a chronic waste of a talented machine.

Depends. If the food has specific instructions for air frying on the packaging, follow that. Otherwise, take about 25% cooking time off what would have been the norm in the oven. And if you’re unsure, don’t take so much off and cook a little longer.
