Heard Monaco. Hopefully who ever come in actually has a vision and discovers hidden gems rather than going after young players that are courted by the world' best clubs and claiming that you discovered him.
You can’t please some. I just hope this doesn’t mean we blindly back Conte’s 30+ targets now. Personally, I’ve enjoyed us targeting players under 25 with huge potential: Lukaku, KDB, Hazard, Courtois, Christensen, Azpilicueta, Oscar to name a few. That’s quite a list for anyone.
Sky put up a list of our main transfers in the last ten years - it was quite impressive, especially in terms of value.
He's right to leave imo, and did a good job. The loan system? Idiots out there having a go at the club because they want the coach to start with too many young players and turn into an Arsenal. Conte is right, and there is no way Loftus Cheek is ready for a regular starting position or Abraham for that matter, although Abraham is closer. Would either of those players get into the Man City side? or Barca'? Exactly. Emenalo did well there. Going forward the owner needs to have more contact with the manager, and stop delegating to other people. The culture of the club also has to change and going forward there can't be the same turnover of managers especially with an excellent coach like Conte at the helm. There has been too much player control, and the likes of Costa and now Luiz think they can undermine the coach and get away with it because that's how it is at Chelsea. That has to stop, and the manager has to be in charge. Hopefully Conte will be at the club for the next few years at least, but the owner needs to let him manage and get rid of the players in charge culture. Conte let's them have their say, and Luiz should have dealt with any differences privately. Having said that there's no way that Luiz is a week in week out, year in year out anchor defender. He did the job for one season and it almost broke him. Conte should see that and if he stays, use him as more of a utility player. Anywhere in defence and midfield occasionally. Against Tottenham away it worked, so what's the problem. If Conte saw him as a long term anchor in defence that was bad judgement on his part. Luiz is no Terry / Ferdinand / Tony Adams type player. Personally I'd be happy to see Luiz stay but not always in that central defence position. That was a one off year for him.
Personally, I'm hoping there won't be any more Falcao's, or Pato's, or Hector's, or Papy's, or any nonsense signing.
A lot of money spent there to be fair.... Falcao and Pato deals were to keep agents sweet - important part of the game in this day and age. While Papy we made a profit on (know doubt we will on Hector too). It’s hilarious how ignorant some people are and how foolish their scapegoats are. Genuinely thinking that Cahill and the Board are the sole reason we haven’t spent a billion pounds every transfer window and lose games
